What I usually do is wait for a good time to go. Usually after it rains over here is a good time, b/c any other time its hot ass hell. What we have done in the past is drive around and look for fields and as were driving, look to see if we see any kind of mushrooms out in the field. If we see what looks like to be mushrooms, we go in and check it out. Sometimes we have seen cubes from the roadside and went back later that night to pick b/c it was right next to someones house so we didnt want to go during the day.

Yea, a field with lots of trees (woods) that the cows have access to. I havent had any luck spoting mushrooms from the road, I have almost killed myself trying though. Find a cow field then look through the woods that suround it.
