Alot of people are being mislead about the improtance of light in regards to growing shrooms. Mushrooms are not plants and do not need light. The only reason you give them some light is to show them which way is up. Give them a flash of light from the nearest lightbulb each day and that's all they need.

You don't need a great deal of light. However, it is light in the shorter wavelengths (blue to ultraviolet) that is most beneficial for initiating pins. There has been a lot of talk about using black lights. I tend to think they help, myself.
Dap, I think that should work fine. I supplement my black light with a low-wattage (15 or 25 watt) incandescent bulbs, but that's just to make sure I don't skimp.

I have been using a blue light bulb. It has been working great so far. There are so many pins popping up. Give it a try and see what results you have. It can't hurt, since light is supposedly not important.
