Early WA Cascades hunt

cruised across the cascades sunday, figured I'd get out and do a little hunting for the first time since morels finished up.  still dry east but late summer/fall mushrooms are starting to show up on the west slopes.  always nice to see after a hot, dry summer :smile:...  my apologies for the shitty pics, just figured I'd post a quick report of what I found, since I haven't seen a decent post from WA in forever :tongue:.
 

Boletus bicolor and what appears to be an old Gomphus floccosus


blue cortinarius, color didn't show up too well


I think these are young Gomphus clavatus, thought they were blue chants for a minute


Hydnum imbricatum, didn't get a shot of the tops :rolleyes:


finally, something worth picking, a good sized, lone Boletus edulis I saw from the road.  in prime condition, hopefully the first of many

also saw some Lactarius deliciosus and Russulas that I didn't get pics of. 


and here are some nice flowers :wink:

yup, it's about that time of year again PNW, all we need now is a bit more rain and it's on :grin:...

Be careful hunting around those plants. Growers can be very protective of their girls.

This is funny,
I came to a mushroom based web forum and asked about finding actives in the cascades, and my thread is closed because it says I can find the answer to that by searching the forums. Which I have and there is no information on the forums about what woodland enviroments actives grow in my area. I just keep hearing "look in woodchip piles, mulch piles ect. What is the point of this forum, if not for mushroom enthusiasts to share information with one another. Who am I hurting by asking for information that IS NOT found in your forum archive. It says dont ask what type of mushroom grow in my area because it is already answered on the grow-wild-in-my-area page. WELL IT IS NOT DOUCHEBAGS!!! The last time I checked a listing of what actives grow across an entire state has nothing to do with what varieties grow in the microclimates in one particular area like the cascade mountains. I was also told not to ask where they can be found, because that is also answered in the forum search section, which it is not. I searched every forum on this website, and there is nothing specic to locating actives in this part of the state, in woodland enviroments. CURECAT, you are an idiot. You really need to review someone's question before spouting off some bullshit about how the answer can be found in places that it obviously can't. I don't care what the forum rules are, they are pointless if they tell you not to ask a question because it is answered somewhere that it is obviously isn't. Oh wait, I guess you just felt the need to be a big bad moderator, and ax someones valid question about something that this website was intended to answer questions about, just because I didn't follow every exact letter of the posting rules. Rules that pretty much make this website useless considering not enough people use it for there to be a useful group of posts about my particular area. Thanks for letting me down shoomery. Feel free to ban me, I have no more use for this crap ass forum anyways.

the lack of information around here and everywhere else on collecting psilocybes in woodland environments around the PNW should clue you in the fact that they're generally not good places to hunt for them...
