i recently went to my field-
the damn farmer no longer has cows there
i didnt even go in the field, instead i drank 17 budweisers and got drunk-
whats the chances of their being mushrooms there,if there are no longer cows there?
but i did find these mushrooms that aroused my curosity-
the first was about the size of a quarter-the cap starts red and fades to white around the edges-any idea what these are?
the second,(growing around the red ones)was orange-i found hundreds of these orange mushrooms-like a rusty orange-any idea what these could be?
these were found in central alabama-
any ideas? i was really intrigued by the red ones and the orange ones

Farmers rotate cattle just the same way tey do crops. They move them from field to field during the year and form field to field for whatever they want to move them. Go from gfield to field and eventually you willfind some.

It is hard to tell without a better description...but the orange rusty ones are probably a galerina...very poisonous...there is one active galerina...only found in a greenhouse in Germany, if I am not mistaken...so this probably isn't it. As for the red one...ummm...forget it I am not even going to attempt an id without a more acurate description...like spore print color, and all the rest.

They may be gyms...but some larger galerinas can be confused with gyms...so yes a picture would help...cheers.

thats a pretty good picture of those galerinas, i find beauty in those even tho they will fuck your shit up. Anyway ganja shroom your not looking for cows but the cow shit, and if no cows are present there is still a good chance of there shit being there. Also dont drink budweiser man that beer is nasty.

Were they any of these mushrooms? The descriptions you gave make it impossible to come up with an accurate ID. But, I did find many similar sounding mushrooms in the same type areas where you found yours. Just a shot. If any of these are the mushrooms, they are innactive, some poisonous, but all are very cool looking. Hope this helps.

They may have been chanterelles (cantharellus cibarius), a delicious edible found growing under beech and conifers, on well drained soil. What where they shaped like, Chantrelles have a convex cap with a wavy margin. They often grow by the hundreds.
