Subb with white stem?
    #7258493 -

My digi camera isn't working, or I'd have posted pics 2 days ago.

Found a dead log in the woods COVERED with mushies. From big ones to little pinners just starting. This actually looked like someone set up a 'natural' grow box, as it was a dead log that was covered with dirt. It actually looked like shit at first, but when picking the shrooms, no smell could be detected to let on to it being manure.

Gills are gray/tan that lead to black.
Spores print light, black in color, just very light.
Stems are white and break easy, hollow inside.

Gills also look like this-
___
___
___
___

Rather than

____
_
____

-
____

(Hope ya know what I mean by that, dunno how else to illu-type that. (Gills are all long, connecting to the stem, rather than one long, one small, one long, one small...etc)

The only thing that makes me think they are NOT Subbs are the white stems. They are definitely pure white with no tan or browning. No bruising on the stems but the caps do start darkening after picked.

Think I've got Psathyrella'?

Excellent ID request for not having pictures. Your gill description especially is great with you little 'drawing.' I agree that you have Psathyrella. The habitat is wrong for Pan subbs, but right for Psaths. Also the easily breakable white stem is very suggestive of Psathyrella.

That's what I was assuming.

Man...we spent a good hour and a half yesterday bringing tons of them from the dead log to another dead log that had a few more of the same type. Also had some orange bad boys growing off it that I believe could be Gym's.

I've spent a lot of time here in the past couple months as I know my area has the potential for being a hotspot for fungi. (Literally surrounded by cow fields and farms). I also know it annoys many-a-peoples around here when someone gives an incomplete ID request, so I did the best I could with the info I had.

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate it a lot!

Xmush is right again, probably Psathyrella.

Nice ASCII art.

What did they taste like? Just taste it and spit it out and wash with water, could be a Galerina.

Take it apart and put it back together again. 50% chance that will fix it.

Alan, you need to hear Statistician's Blues by Todd Snider.
