Harry Potter movies vs books
    #7216709 -

I've seen 4 out of the 5 movies...and have read none of the books.
I think the movies are great. My sister borrowed the first four and had her self a little movie marathon all day today while i was at work. We got high and saw the new one....i really enjoyed it. pretty trippy film.

anyway..i'm considering reading the books. do they go into more detail(specifically about the Order of the Phoenix and the Ministry)?

I haven't read any of the books, but saw the latest movie.

I bought the last two books (following on from the movie) and am liking them a lot. I reccommend buying the last 2 books before someone can spoil what happens.

The books are way better. JK Rowling is a really engrossing author

I challenge you to find a movie better than the book it's made after.

The book is always better than the movie because books in general are better than movies

Are you kidding me?

The movies are an insultingly bad representation of the literature.

i think the movie fight club was as good as the book fight club. i enjoyed both thoroughly, and felt the movie did a particularly excellent job.

"As good as" isn't "better"

I stand by my statement: no movie is better than the book it's made after.

the movies suck ass, they are stupid and boring. made for people who hate to read.

the books rule, i just started reading them all over again because of the sequel that came out. every time a new one came out i re-read the previous ones so as i would remember what was going on exactly.

I tried doing that with Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series...

When you get to book ten and you've read the first one nine times already...it gets a little old :smirk:

The books are much better, but after seeing the films, they will be tainted.

Oh I didn't raelly read your post. Yeah, they go into much greater detail. Unlike in the film, the order of the pheonix is actually explained in the book

I'd have to say they're both equally as good.  I think it should always be taken into consideration that you can't put all the content from the book into the movie, so I can't say "this movie sucked because it wasn't identical to the book."  It followed it, though despite being long as fuck maybe it did miss a few things, but still it was a good movie."

  I'm stoned.

Overall, I'd give it a C-.

Many of the roles were poorly cast (Dumbledore, Umbridge, etc.).
It missed many key plot points.
It came across as rushed.

you think Dumbledore was poorly cast?

that's strange. I think he is one of the best actors in the movie.

OOps, I picked "movies are better" when I meant "books are better". The only movie that was better than the book was Count of Monte Cristo.

Oh, no doubt he's a good actor, he's just not suited for the role.

On the other hand, Snape is perfect.

These are the two things that have been missing from the movies, expecially the last two. I can't beilieve anyone could actually understand the last two movies because of what I thought were key plot points weren't in it. They focus on the "action" of harry potter and not the story line, which I beilieve is an excelent one. It could be so much better if they added an extra 45 minuites to it develop the plot better.
