Calling all Hackers!
    #7222129 -

Does anyone know of any programs to bypass mac filtering or WEP keyes when accessing someone's wireless router? The signal I was using with my wirless adapter is no longer active(I think they moved) so now I have a choiece between several signals with WEP keyes, and a signal with mac filtering so I cant access it, but no WEP key on that one.

Anyone know about this sorta thing?

Crack the WEP Key.... I dunno about the Mac Filtering.

I think you can get some programs to help capture the data stream and after so much data you'll get enough unique keys, then you run another program to crack it.

I think thats how it works, but i am not sure... hopefully i started you off in the right direction.

no. You cannot bypass WEP, or MAC (hardware address) filtering. There are a handful of tools for cracking WEP encryptions, but they mostly suck.

Do everybody a favor, buy your own wireless router.

I have a wireless router, but no modem to connect it to, so it is therefore worthless.

Then I would advise calling your local service provider, and getting the hook-up.

I used to run my network un-encrypted, so other people, less fortunate than myself could use it too. It turned into a nightmare about 3 days later when 4 or 5 guys kept tapping in and running ad-bots. After that I locked it up.

It's people like that who fuck up public access taps for everybody.

About 5 years ago when Wireless was fairly new, there was movement called, war-chalking, where nerds like myself would mark open wireless network locations with various sidewalk chalk symbols. Unfortunately, after tons of effort, all the little fuck-up script kiddies went and ruined the whole thing by abusing all the hot-spots.

That's pretty cool, I never heard of that before.

cracking WEP encryption is a god damn son of bitch. you could probably figure it out in less than a day though. Look for a program called aircrack and prepare to get extremely pissed off at computer nerds for not making it easier.

 Yeah, the war-drive used to be big back in the day. We nigger-rigged pringles cans to work as antennae so we could shoot into networks from rooftops, or over uber-long distance (across a lake say).

The truth is, aside from building cred as a "hacker", there really isn't much motivation to war-drive.

If their network is secured don't break into it. If you're really too cheap to pay for your own internet, try approaching one of your neighbors about splitting the bill in exchange for wireless access.

cantennas are teh ghey. get a wifi antenna, break it so you got the wires and the connector, build a big ass antenna w/ pvc and copper piping twisted around it and solder it to your broken antenna. you`ll have a very heavy dbi antenna you cant go out and buy.you`ll be picking up wireless signal miles away.

Cracking WEP is the line between wardriver and malicious hacker. You can get locked up on a felony. When You`re all locked out, either increase your range or move. Unencrypting inf. can make you look like a privacy violator or identity/info. thief rather than just a bandwidth thief. They will track you down just like wardrivers pinpoint wifi sources through gps.

The Cia Likes to play games like that at their conferences. "Unbreakable" security took 10 minutes for them to take down I read from their last meeting.

you can scrounge for old copper, pvc and a broken antenna. I already had a soldering iron from my furby circuit bending. Its totally worth the effort a much lower dbi store bought antenna is as much as $150 IME. internet is $10 for some 1.21 jigawatt jive. It pays itself off in a year.

Ive bothered The Local library one two many times about increasing their wireless network range it seems. They made the Space needle a wireless antenna and you can get 100% signal free internet 5 miles away before the signal starts dropping.

Well, a WEP key is 10 digits long. The two most obvious things to try before you get into all this hacker jive is:

1) 1234567890. You would be surprised to find out how many people actually do this. And 0 is always last; thats how the key board is layed out.

and

2) their phone number. (Your more than likely going to need to obtain a name and or address to do a reverse look-up at HTTP://www.yellowpages.com )

How many standardized ten digit combinations can you think of? Probably none. Most people seem to find these two easy to remember and roll with it.
Don't make it more confusing than it really is.:sherlock:
