wild plant hunting
    #7212035 -

Hello everyone.

I was wondering if anyone knew any websites that could provide information on hunting and identifying wild plants, not specifically mushrooms and not necessarily psychoactive plants. Simply for finding and identifying wild plants as a hobby. I have done a search but havn't found much useful information.

thanks

i've been into forraging for years. there are a lot of good sites and even better, many of them are geared towards certain regions, states/provinces and even biomes within those areas. where abouts are you?

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

oh, loads of botanical resourced for the eastern states, both in print and online.

Wild Food (of New York State) at soul-guidance

Bobcat's Wild Kitchen: Plants Section

Forraging with Wildman Steeve Brill: Plants Section this guy is great and offers forrays and workshops even in Central Park NYC.

for books; Stalking the Wild Bananna (New England's Wild Edibles) by Theresa Ludwik is good, as are Edible Wild Plants of Eastern North America by Fernald, Merritt Lyndon and Alfred Charles Kinse and anything by Euell Gibbons.

and lastly, this site looked like a promising resource for in person workshops and forrays: http://users.rcn.com/eatwild/sched.htm

all told, there are better resources which you coud find with more research, but these are a start and since i've not done much forraging in the eastern states [nor lived east of ohio] i can't tell you much better.
