Is it just me or....(ripple & chinacat read please)

Is the pub the new OTD? I remember days of chinacat and ripple spewing forth knowledge. I remember the thumbprint thread, the LSD crystal to blotter thread, and a few others, all of which was always focused on the love that spills forth when one turn someone else onto the miracle that is LSD. Ripple sent me the shroomery pics, some random person sent me 12 cd's worth of Phish. stuff like that.


I think i would like a New shroomery pics. Or at least the respect that is in the rules, enforced.

I'm far too new to say nothing has changed, and I'm sure shit has, but I think that if you look in the right places there is still that kind of stuff around. For me, personally, OMR has helped me out with tons of shit. There are still the old-timers, like Randal for instance, that still seem to me to have that same "classic" Pub attitude that I hear everyone speak of. Yes, there are probably more things that make the Pub "OTD-lite" compared to whatever this place used to be like, but I'm of the opinion that there is still plenty of kind-hearted helpful people around. You just gotta work a little harder to find them.

And please don't think I'm trying to say I'm all knowing about what it is like here now compared to what it was like, because I am quite new and I don't know what it was like, but I see helpful and friendly people in here day in and day out.

I hate to tell you but i cant vouch for OMR

i knew when he was actualy was onemorerobot. before he was mod if you will.

Chinacat, which i hear is not in the best of shape, Ripple which i hope is still sending out cd's are the only pub mods that get the R-E-S-P-E-C-T from me. maybe someone will prove themseles worthy.

I don't spam in OTD, I just had a very miserable freshman year in college in which I sat in front of my computer all day. Since summer has come my post count has slowed down a ridiculous amount.

CDs do get sent out.. but, more often we have music threads where people just upload shit..

chinacat and Ripple aren't around as much... maybe you should take the time to put your own knowledge out there to help fill the gap?  better than whining.

I can personally vouch for the kindness of people here.. money from some of them helped keep me fed and make bail last year... :smile:

Don't dwell on the negative.. i know it's hard... someone is always doing it...

but, this place definately isn't that bad.. it is what you make of it.

I like the pub more now that it's not focused so much on the hippie lifestyle which I myself do not live. It's more diverse these days with a wide variety of posts, yet it retains a slight undercurrent of hippie goodness to remind us of the Jerry-loving days of yore.

I've been here for a long time and I only see the Shroomery getting better and better.  The only bad thing is that some cool users don't post anymore, but so what?  There are lots of cool new users.  The general 'vibe' of any place can't stay the same for too long; things are always in flux.  Anybody who doesn't like this place anymore should do themselves (and the rest of us) a favor and just go away.

the pube *used to* bea place where you'd have to tread lightly and worry about whether or not yer post about just how bad such and such movie sucked ass, because ANY negativity would be hoarded with throngs and throngs of pussy ass hippie wanna-bes beating you senceless about WWJD (What Would Jerry Do) and all that other bullshit ass prattle...and god forbid someone make an asine thread and you actually TELL THEM just how rediculous they sound

you couldn't even post in here without kissing EVERYONE'S ass  :rolleyes:





and considering the fact that OTD has become a fucken rotting cesspool of assinuity (1000x worse then it once was) the pub is quickly turning into a sort of 'happy medium' betwinx the two...where people don't have to constantly be bogged down with presumably 'forced' lovey-dovey bullshit 100% of the time / whilst still being able to get an actual honest oppionion about things (as opposed to simply being torn aprt by people who arte going out of their way to do so, just simply because they fell that's what they're supposed to do (as would be the case in OTD))




I say - fuck the jackasses that are going to the absolute extreme in OTD these days just because they can...and fuck all the mamby-pamby neo-hippies that are being weeded out by those of us 'middle ground' types that are now beginning to find this placve a more suitable home for ourselves then the cesspool that we're leaving behind

I say we should ALL fucken evolved beyond what we've been in the past, and embrace what we're quickly becomming  :cheers:

All things change, you either adapt or go away!

In the early days of the pub things were very different, far fewer people posting and it was much more intimate, everyone knew everyone.

The pub has grown into something very different, back then BoO and I were the only mods here and we hardly ever edited or moved a thread.

Like I said all things change and I took a long break from posting here, it's human nature to resist change and I'm only human, but I'm trying to make a comeback and get to know as many new people here as possible.

China Cat and I have not talked in a very long time, he was going through a very rough time and I wish him well!

I just think it's a shame that often, people can't hardly post in the pub without having asinine shit talked to them. It's not about being into the Dead, we always welcomed everyone in the day, just not unkind people. I think it would be good to start a forum for "kind conversation", since it seems that the Pub will never show this same vibe again.

But like Ripple said, this is how the majority wants it to be, so maybe it's for the best overall, I donno. I just hate to see brand new people getting flamed over ridiculous stuff. That was never what the pub was about.

Unfortunately I think you're right on this one Randal. I remember when they tried to Reform OTD. They even shut it down for 3-4 days. People went insane. Never underestimate the power of idiots/assholes in large numbers.

I'm curious to the rough times which chinacat's going through. After reading those legendary posts (and others) he seems like the sort of cat that doesn't deserve that sort of shit.

As for the pub.. theres OTD for the hardcore people, and Philosophy and spirituality / Psychedelic experience for the hippies :grin:

As muppet said; this place is the middle ground.. just like a pub is in reality.

I'd love to see Chinacat posting again. Nearly all of my knowledge regarding LSD has come from things that he has posted on this site.

His knowledge is invaluable, hopefully he returns sometime soon.

but the shroomery is always changing and there are always lots of different groups of people who come and go and come and go....

Things change. Such is life. Lack of change is just stagnation. I've seen so many variations of so many forums here in 8 years that it doesn't matter anymore. I must say, I do prefer it the way it is now then the way it was when I reged in '99. Back then I would not come around for a week or longer and then I could log on and catch up by reading and replying to every new post on the entire site in about 30 minutes

Yeah catching up is a thing of the past for me, your right Summit back then it was easy to stay in touch with every thread you had interest in!

yea that is definitely true
i just sorta avoid the pub these days...not really sure why
just feel kinda out of place here now (and on the shroomery in general)
