I'd be in to contribute something too.
The idea of "turning on" in Leary's sense is to fully enjoy the senses and the different 'input sensors' into the body, so to speak.
I think flowers would be a great idea, they smell very nice and are pretty to look at. Maybe also some digital art as GJim suggested and some good food (chocolate if he likes, it's always a nice gift), and we could burn him a mix of his favorite songs to listen to while he's in the hospital and when he's recovering.
None of it would need to be too expensive, and it could be a nice welcome back. I think the money could also be well spent towards a charity in his name.

lapdance from a stripper in a nurse outfit
but seriously, i think it could help to contact his wife and ask her opinion. She may know what would raise his spirits the most. Flowers are beautiful and aromatic, so they couldn't hurt.

There's no better way to show our love for our brother Ryan than posting in the thread that's stuck to the top of this forum. Our boy is alive! He's going to be fine, I know it and when he's better we can send him all sorts of stuff
If you know Chinacat you'll know that material items such as flowers won't mean nearly as much to him as our words of love that are going out to him, his wife, and family.
Its a great thought Joe I would gladly be in if it were decided upon to do this thing.
Love you guys

He suffered a massive heart-attack last saturday
Still in pretty rough shape, as of last update, but definitely improving!

I never knew chinacat. I don't think I've ever really conversed with him.
Regardless, I'm down to help.

He probably does have insurance, what with children and all. I am getting full family coverage, come the New Years. He should be okay, in this sense. I would love to help throw something together for him, though. You guys just let us know how we can help. I've already got the good vibes thing covered.
Chinacat72, we love you and hope you get to go home to your family soon!

From [this post]:
I would like to announce that a donation page has been setup for those of you who may have a few dollars to spare for the greater good of the world population. After discussing with Cassie the possibility of sending flowers or some sort of material appreciation to Ryan, it is felt that for safety it would be best to keep his location from floating around freely. While flowers no doubt would be appreciated, showing gratitude through giving I'm sure would also be an excellent way to further share the love - but indeed the love that everyone has been and is giving is worth more than anything. On the list of Ryan's favorite charities is Seva (in the Spirit of Service), which helps indigenous people throughout the world receive healthcare as well as communal infrastructure. If you would like to donate something, feel free to visit the following page - updates will be posted as time permits:
The Chinacat72 Love Fund
Give as you will, and remember that the gift of love is worth more than any paper or coin!

Yay!!
I don't feel obligated to send cash, but how often do we get to help someone out? I mean, I am sure that each of us has contributed something to our fellow man, but things like this are reminders that we aren't going to be here forever and who knows what the next life has in store for us. I am not rich, by ANY means, but if I have it to give and someone needs some help, you had best believe that I am going to do whatever I can to help. Money is definitely not the most important gift, but it damn sure helps those that need it! Much love to all of you and I hope to see Chinacat posting again soon. I love you people!
