I've already said too much.

I won't elaborate as I am in relaxation mode, perhaps another time.

10 years ago gasoline fuel wasn't $3.50 a gallon(like it is today, in ten more years we'd be lucky to pay as little as $7.50 a gallon.

and food prices are going up. can't go grocery shopping for less than 100 bucks.

i bought some precious metals to add to my long term savings. every now and then i buy some, i like to keep it a certain percentage of my saved money. maybe it'l keep its value better than the dollar, maybe it won't. i see the dollar going down alot farther. it recently broke its 30 year support line.

Prices for actual goods hasn't budged too much in the last 10 years. Sure gas, oil, housing, etc has increased but I fail to see the logic (or intellect) in what you think.

Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.

Gasoline is a completely different entity than anything in the United States and it's price is dictated by Opec and the American Oil Companies and do not reflect the strength of the American dollar but more the maximum profit potential weighted against reserves of product. That's why Oil rich countries get away with so much shit is because they dictate the price for the world economy.

And going to my local store... well chicken sandwiches, two tacos, jr. and bacon cheeseburgers are still $1 at Jack in the Box and at the store Soda Pop is still $1 and Bread is still 1.29

I completely agree that the American economy is fucked but inflation hasn't hit yet and probably won't hit until the next administration completely panics and the world economy realizes that the dollar has been completely over-stretched. However, that's still a few years away. Also realistically inflation is a natural and I won't say healthy but I'll say normal part of economics, the only time it should be feared is when it's out of control or when the standard of living cannot keep up with it.

the strength of the american dollar is measured in comparison to the other major currencies

it is dropping, and broke its 30 year support line. if this continues foreign countries sell it over time to replace their reserves with a more stable currency. our currency is back by nothing except foreign investment in our debt.

i made no mention of oil.

that's bullshit because gasoline fuel is cheaper on the east coast, but the price of a burger is the same ?

OPEC doesn't regulate that scene.

Sorry I was trying to address different things within the thread. And indeed I agree with you on this issue, I'm just saying that this won't be felt in America for a few more years. Honestly though if it gets rampantly out of control it could be a blessing in disguise by discouraging American companies outsourcing of jobs due to the weakness of our currency and also promoting education within our society and perhaps a political reform because the ignorant lazy masses are comfortable right now and they're comfortable because they can buy what they want, however when that ability disappears, people are going to get pissed and like Zack De La Rocha said "Anger is a gift" But judging from the last seven years, when the recession and inflation hits the government is probably going to blame it on drug addicts and terrorists and there'll be a even darker age in the American Experience... who knows, but buy the ticket and ride the ride.

i agree with what your saying as well. any suggestions on other ways to save ur wealth besides a pirate stash of precious metals? i can't afford a house or anything like that, so i put my money in smaller things a 100 or 200 dollars at a time here and there.

yes inflation sucks.  there's nothing you can do about it unless you press some type of restart button then we can fill our cars up for $.25 a gallon and get a coke for $.10.

Sams club and Walmart still have quarter soda machines..... :undecided:
