Anyone seeing TOOL in Albany this Saturday, July 14th?

Alex Grey has a history of painting on stage with bands - Sound Tribe Sector 9 and Disco Biscuits in particular - and this Saturday he was supposed to be holding his monthly New Moon ceremony at CoSM, his gallery in NYC. But looking at the events page just now I see that the event has been "Cancelled due to TOOL concert in Albany."

This makes me wonder if it's so that he can go check out the concert or if he'll be involved...

the one here a while back in south carolina was pwnage, they had a crazy laser show and awesome cinematics on the backdrops

highly encourage you to go whether the artist guy goes or not

My buddy jsut went to the toold concert in milwaukee tripping on 2C-E. He said it was fucking nuts.

I bet he's seen a ton of them already, you know...lots of the kids that are regulars at his gallery parties definitely have Alex Grey-themed tattoos whether it's the flaming eyes or the spirit eye logo.

i wish i could go...i could probably have an orgasm if he was painting onstage with them

I went to CoSM on Bicycle Day and he did a presentation of his Albert Hoffman painting, and he pointed out that he painted a little Shpongle Logo into the upper right corner and some kids there were like "You know Shpongle??!" He said "Sure, I love Simon Posford.." and told about how Simon Posford had actually played a set at the gallery once...and then he said it was pretty much "the most psychedelic music I've ever heard."

Uh, isn't Alex Grey the guy who painted Maynard blue on the Lateralus tour (in CO Springs), and then they opened with Cold & Ugly? If so, this has the potential to be fucking epic!

im going to the show. i cant fucking wait. TOOL live is an experience like no other, nothing fucking compares. i saw them at Madison Square Garden in 2001 on the Lateralus tour, and in october at Nassau Colisium...they blow you away
