1. I don't know the answer
2. yes 9 out of 10 speak English, some just pretend not to but there aren't many like that most are very nice and will even go out of there way to help you.
3. some seed places there wont send them to America but a few will and yes it is safe, try going to Homegrown Fantaseeds there nice people and will send seeds anywhere you want and they use stealth packing.
4. no
5. check out Homegrown fantasy the coffee shop and go see the Anne frank house and van Gogh museum, that and Dam square which is something you cant miss.

1. the tool show in amsterdam has not been confirmed yet (see toolshed.down.net), hence there are no tickets available... but there is a ticketmaster.nl homepage where you should be able to get tickets as soon as the show is confirmed...
2. if this is not possible... the dutch speak enough english...
3. dunno about the risks of mailing yourself seeds... i know it would be no problem here in germany... but i dunno about the states...
4. hahaha thanks, but that would be pretty dumb considering i live just about 3 or 4 hours away from a-dam...
5. check out the hemp museum... it's pretty interesting... you obviously have to see the hookers... in fact, walking around the red-light district stoned as hell is pretty fun... even more so if it is warm (which it will be in june)... i dunno how into history you are, but i found the anne frank museum to be pretty cool as well... besides that i think just wasting away in coffee-shops all day is going to be fun enough

don't go to the red-light district stoned because you will have a good chance of getting your pocket picked and don't go to sensi seeds or the hash museum, go to the cannabis college (right next door to the hash museum) its free to get into it (but they do ask for donations) and right across the street is the flying dutch man seed co. (the cannabis college gives you a 15% discount on seeds there)

In all my life in Holland I've never been pickpocketed, then again I don't frequent the red light districts that much. My bicycle has been stolen many times though. I think it helps to not look like a total tourist when you go into the Redlight. Tourists usually have a lot of many and thus are targets for pickpockets. But I think you have a higher chance of being pickpocketed in the stations. Just keep your wallet close and not much could happen.
I would advise you to also visit another city or two. There are some beautiful and less crowded cities in Holland, and they all have coffeeshops. Go to Leiden or Utrecht. Most major cities are really close together in Holland 30-45min by train.
Utrecht, my hometown

Annom and The Douche are living with me too now. My mother moved out of the house to another house with her boyfriend, and she let me rent the two available rooms out. So it's a constant mini-gathering over here

I'm not surprised you had your bike stolen. I had a junkie try to sell me a bike there for 8 euros. I declined naturally.

Yeah that's the problem. When someones bike is stolen and they don't have insurance, they want a new cheap bike. So then they buy a bike of a junkie, which keeps the problem alive. Although it has gotten better in my city now that they have free herion distribution for the hardcore junkies.
So where do all the bikes end up? In the canal. Once every year boats go through the canals in my city and dredges up all the bikes in the canal

Riding a piece of shit bike is the best insurance against theft. Most bikes look like crap but they work good. If you want to ride a new, pretty and expensive bike you'd better have a big strong lock and a good insurance.

Yep and I've used it twice when I still had a nice bike. They usually insure it for a 1-3 years. A really nice city bike can easily cost you $700.
