Glowing Calcium Carbonate?

Just bought a bag of T-Rex Calcium Carbonate. It says that it glows. Will the substance that makes it glow be bad for my grow? Check out the pics, and tell me what you think. Also, the ingredients I have are Black Kow composted manure, Coir, Gypsum, and now the Calcium. If you had these ingredients what ratios would you use for the substrate, and what ratio would you use for the casing layer. (Oops, forgot that I also have Peat for an ingredient.

You don't need to pH balance bulk substrates. In fact, mushroom mycelium actually prefers an acidic substrate. We pH balance casing material because it remains partially uncolonized throughout the fruiting cycle, thus is prone to contamination. Bulk substrates colonize fully, thus are resistant to contaminants, so you can leave them slightly acidic and they'll do just fine.

Mushroom mycelium is more tolerant of a basic pH than molds, and that's why we add lime to casings.

I should have waited for that response. I'm already pressure cooking the bags. Anyway, I used 35 cups Black Kow composted manure, 35 cups of coir, 35 Cups verm, 10 cups gypsum, and 10 cups Calcium carbonate. This gave me the ratio of 28/28/28/8/8. I portioned them into 9 High density heating bags. I've got 4 1 pint brf/verm jars fully colonized and ready to go. I was going to put them into my food processor and dice them up pretty fine. then put everything in the huge mono tub and mix. Of course the casing will be put on when fully colonized. Anything wrong with these ideas?

I add about half a cup of hydrated lime per ten gallons of water while pasteurizing straw to raise the pH and if i'm not mistaken RR you do roughly the same for pasteurizing straw. This generally brings the straw to have a pH of about 9 which will help fight contams.

you should be pasteurizing bulk substrate (140-170f) rather than sterilizing.

is this a typo? did you mean 41 pints?
or did you mean to spawn 4 pints to all that b/sub.
a 1-4 spawn to bulk ratio is more usual.
