I fucking hate cell phones

So last night my friend comes over so we can drink and spin some house music on my new mixer. He calls his girlfriend over and she stays for an hour and doesnt talk much. Then she leaves, she walks home cause she lives close by.

So he spends 45 minutes talking to her on the phone while she is sitting in a hosue right down the street. i got sick of hearing it (speaker phone is abuse, lets ban it!) and grabbed his phone and asked her to come over. She said she was tired, so i told her to go to bed. If she wants to talk she can walk her dumb ass down the street.

Im sick of these things. Mostly because people have given up on walking outside to take a call. So everywhere i go i have to hear peoples lame ass conversations on speaker phone. Put the damn thing in your own ear.

People, youre driving me nuts.

I'm not too big a fan either.

I have one and I rarely use it.. maybe $20 of airtime a month.

My pet peeve is text messaging. I was at a concert the other night and these two guys in front of me spent the entire show texting. I wanted to punch them.

its bizzare all these things are so stupid when they first come out. now people can't get by without them.

example: you've left your house with your friend and he's begging for you to take him back so he can get his phone. The he thinks youre a complete asshole when you tell him it'l still be there when we get back.

people are so glued to electronics in public, no one intereacts anymore.

i second what 'discombobulate' said. Seems to me that she indeed was uncomfortable in your environment.

Think about the situation and how she was acting at the time from a 3rd party perspective. Did she seem uneasy around you ? have you talked to your friend maybe she has a problem with you or something your involved in that could be easily explained. Then maybe you can all be close friends ? I don't know... obviously i don't know any of you from a bar of soap so its a hard thing to judge but find solace in the fact that technology can be a pain in the arse but at the end of the day it can also be your best friend in the worst of situations.

I think you should edit the post. The problem really isn't cell phones here. The problem is etiquette. But in saying all of this wrable i completely agree with you mate. Phone etiquette is becoming a big problem even here in Australia but over here we call them Mobile Phones.

Perhaps you should have called the thread "Poor Phone Etiquette - The New Disease."

meh. i like cell phones. they're very convenient. what your friend did was rude, so give him shit about it. fuck listening to someone else's conversation on speaker, you should have just turned up your music and driven him out onto the porch or something until he was done.

but i quite like my cell phone and my ability to be in contact with people wherever i go.
