A basidiospore is a reproductive spore produced by Basidiomycete fungi. Basidiospores typically each contain one haploid nucleus that is the product of meiosis, and they are produced by specialized fungal cells called basidia.

2. What is a fairy ring and how is it formed?

A fairy ring, also known as fairy circle, Elf circle or pixie ring, is a naturally occurring ring or arc of mushrooms. The rings may grow over ten meters in diameter and become stable over time as the fungus grows and seeks food underground. They are found mainly in forested areas, but also appear in the grasslands and/or rangelands. Fairy rings are not only detectable by sporocarps in rings or arcs, but also by a necrotic zone (death grass) or a ring of dark green grass. If these manifestations are visible a fairy fungus mycelium is likely present in the ring or arc underneath.

3. How did the berserkers of Norse mythology frenzy themselves into battle?

ingestion of bog myrtle or fly agaric mushrooms. AND According to a theory of spirit possession, the berserk rage was achieved through possession by the animal spirit of either a bear or a wolf. Berserkers would cultivate an ability to allow the animal spirit to take over their body during a fight. This is seen as a somewhat peculiar application of animal totemism.

4. Why are Shaggy Mane mushrooms rarely seen at the supermarket?

That was the idea, next time though, I'm gonna give everyone a warning what time a contest will start so that there are more people that can play.  I'll have another round of questions and start the game at early evening.  I'm just gathering up the prizes before I can announce it.
