Point taken, you didn't specify what "too much" is though.

For a healthy young adult of regular weight with no alcohol tolerance here are some figures to go by:

10-15ml alcohol is the amount your liver detoxifies per hour. If you drink an amount of alcohol at once and add this amount to it once every hour, you will stay about as drunk for the duration. It is also the amount of alcohol in "a glass of beer/wine/booze" which you buy in the pub.

20ml alcohol is the amount of alcohol contained in a cup of Saké, a glass of Absinthe or a pint of lager. Drinking and driving stops right here.

25ml alcohol For good health, this is considered the upper limit of alcohol consumption per day.

40ml alcohol is contained in 0.1 liter of vodka or 1 liter of beer. If drunk at once by said person he'll be quite intoxicated and may even get nauseous.

100ml alcohol is contained in 1/4 liter of vodka or 2.5 liter of beer. If drunk at once by said person he'll become dangerously intoxicated. People may black out, and at this point occasionally people die by it. Spread out over an evening or day, this would be the upper limit of "responsible heavy drinking" if it occurs once in a while. If you drink this daily you will insidiously become more and more impaired as the years go by, body and mind slowly declining. This amount drank daily is the border of what some medical sources classify as being (at risk for becoming) an alcoholic.

200ml alcohol is contained in 1/2 liter of vodka or 5 liter of beer. If drunk at once by said person he is at serious risk of dying. If you see someone downing this amount induce vomiting and when this isn't successful dial 911. If 200ml alcohol is drunk spread out over an evening once a week, you can expect noticable brain damage after years or decades of this. If you insist on drinking 15 glasses on one day, don't do this more often than say once every two months.

400ml alcohol is contained in 1 liter of vodka or 10 liter of beer. Frequently fatal if drunk at once. Alcoholics who drink this amount daily are on the fast lane of the highway to hell.
