Yeah, I'm over-qualified. Maybe that's another problem, because despite my need to be employed, I have my own pride to look after. This is why I'm not applying to be a burger jockey at the local McDonald's.

Nope

No outstanding tickets, felonies, crimes of any nature. Nothing that would set off a background check. Mostly just bad timing.

I started my search right at the beginning of summer but no one got back to me in a timely fashion so maybe I'm too late. Whatever, I'll look everywhere I can next week, and if that fails well... people always need the dank :shrug:

I always give the company a call-back 3 days after submitting a resume or application, it helps get your info to the top of the pile, and now they have your name on their mind. It also shows them due-diligence/ability to follow up on a task and see it through to completion...just a bunch of non-sense bullshit that works. This is especially important when you are applying over the internet as it also puts a voice to your name.

good advice. i like it when a potential employee expresses more interest than other canidates.

or you can do what FG did and work for walmart. they hire anyone. period. even if you had down syndrome and was blind, theyd just make you a greeter.

unless you are dealing directly with HR, and even still, these people have a real job to do besides hiring someone in. The reason they are hiring is because they realize they don't have enough man-power, so in the mean-time those duties are spread on top of other regular duties until the position is filled. If you are dealing with a company that accepts alot of applications, forget about a call-back, they deal with hundreds if not thousands or more applications at a time and just cannot possibly do this. That is why the follow-up call is all-important.

i applied online a week ago today, i havent heard anything yet.. but oh well.. i have a pretty good job right now.. and walmart would only be to pickup an extra 10-15 hours per week. extra income is nice when ur starting school and want a new car.

no, ever since working at Best Buy when i was 16... i refused to ever work retail again. they treat you like shit, don't pay you shit, the people are shitty -- and obsessed with high-school drama, and the customers can be even worse.

They shouldn't be able to deny you an opportunity since, one: they are an EoE and two: you aren't given an opportunity to state why you answered the way you did, IE: i'm not totally closed off to medicinal marijuana use when a person is terminal but still working to support their family. hehehe

best buy was the worse job ever.. i worked in their stock room while working for UPS.. and hated it there.. i quit after 2 weeks of wanting to kill myself.

UPS on the other hand is the shit. you should apply there if you have one close.. as long as you dont mind unloading boxes.. the pay is alright and you get a workout.
