Question : thinking of doing shrooms

I have an overactive imagination. I know I have an over active imagination, and I've always had it. Before I'd taken any drugs (Alcohol, Pot, Etc) I used to get paranoid every so often. Always things like I thought I was dying or something similar. The way I see it, Paranoia is like fear with a bit of imagination.

I started taking pot when I was 16, always in heavy doses. When I was 18 I had a seriously bad experience on pot. It took me several months to completly get over that ONE experience. I had to give up pot for a while (got back on it though once I sorted my head out, never had the problem since), I spent a lot of time spiritually searching (it's amazing, the harder you search for something spiritual the less you find it).

Anyway I'm well and truly over that one now, but I've never found a way to fully beat general paranoia. But HERE is the point of my post. Mushroom season is on the way. I've NEVER done them. For several reasons (friends, my own conclusions etc) I really WANT to do mushrooms. I want to do them for all the good reasons mushroom users know. Although i'm pretty sure if I had the paranoia I got that one time on pot, on shrooms, I'd be screwed.
So I'm asking for is opinions...
Am I just a paranoia sufferer who should steer clear of psycodelic drugs, or should I give mushrooms a go?
Can anyone here relate to what I said about Paranoia? IE: have you had a bad experience on a drug which took you some real sanity time to recover from, and then had a great time on shrooms.

This is acutally pretty simple: dont even dare to jump into high or medium dosages. Start slowly and work your way up...

Great advice! Just do 1 dry gram at first to get a taste of what they're like, and every 2 weeks or so do a bit more until you're comfortable with the effects.

It doesn't hurt to smoke some pot with 'em either, it'll relax your brain a bit.

Eat the shrooms on an empty stomach (I recommend blending with iced tea) then wait 10-15 mins. You should feel an anxious feeling in your gut, that's normal and it passes w/in a half hour. To get more comfortable, take a couple of tokes. Roll your j's before you consume!! Rolling is quite tedious during the anxious time.

If you are planning on doing several voyages, be sure to acquire a sufficient amount all at once. Potency can vary by several magnitudes, so you want to get used to a certain batch.

One difficulty that seems to be unique with psychedelics, is that a threshhold dose can give you all of the negative effects with little of the positive effects. So after doing a low dose, you may very well wonder what all the fuss is about until you "breakthrough".

I HIGHLY recommend having a trusted and sober friend nearby and to trip in a safe place with few distractions.

If you have had bad experiences on pot and everything else you say about yourself is true stay far far away from mushrooms!

Pot is a different drug altogether. And some people don't experience the same kind of paranoia as they do with pot. No harm in trying, but yes, try lower dosages first.

weed makes me paranoid most of the time because i don't just relax and accept myself so i get caught up in negative thought loops and stereotyping. but shrooming never causes me any paranoia problems at all.. i get so high that it simply becomes impossible to care about my ego anymore. i become lost in the moment.

I've had one or two "very paranoid" experiences on pot from mass consumption of Sativa, but I've never had a problem on mushrooms.

Start with a low dose and don't smoke pot during the trip, wait until afterwords.

I got philosphical, but in a bad way. I started to question what death is, which made me feel trapped. That kind of paranoia is the kind that gets you into a mental hospital sreaming "The deamons, thier EVERYWHERE", and I know it.

Because i'd smoked so much, my speculation seemed to "make sense". So any horror I could think up with, I would belive. And thus, be scared shitless.

That's how you have a bad time on pot.

The trick is to think good thoughts. Because pot just makes things "seem like they make sense", even if they don't.

Pretty positive response.
Since you can't truly know what something is like till you try it yourself, just for the point of "keeping an open mind" I'm for doing some.

My cousin is crazy about mushrooms and I'm sure he's gonna invite me to do some. So I'll look forward to it and take the advice given here. Start off slow, see what happens.
