I used to have Netflix for 2 1/2 years before I went broke and had to prioritize my money. It was fantastic. Every disc I got was in great condition and it only took a single day turn around to recieve a disk. What I mean is that if I set a DVD back on Monday, it would arrive at their center on Tuesday and I had a new set of DVD's on Wednesday.

Also I was at my friends house the other night who has Netflix too and we got a chance to try their broadband movie service. Even though he had all 3 of his dvd's rented out, we were still able to watch a movie online on his LCD TV for free and it looked just like DVD quality and had no problem or time waiting for it to load. The only bad thing is that they are only a few hundred movies available so far, but I assume they are adding more every day.

I vote Netflix, but then again I've never used the Blockbuster service.

i always ask the retailer to show me the disc and if i don't like the way it looks i just ask him to hand me a different one. they usually have multiple copies of the same game on shelf.

Blockbuster is awesome and they DO rent TONS of games.

Their online deal is great. They give you 2 free rental coupons per month (1 in-store, 1 online) (game or movie). You can trade in movies that've been mailed to you for free game or movie rentals.

They bend over backwards to make you happy. The have monthly "Snack Cards"... Buy the card for $5.99 and get one free snack per day ($1.99 or less) with each movie or game you rent OR TRADE.

Netflix will be gone in a couple of years, unless the drop their prices so low that they make like 5 cents per rental.

ugh, you know shit lol. Netflix is going nowhere, they currently hold the biggest market share in the online rental market and have been doing so for a long while. They bought out walmarts online service and have a customer base that about 6x greater then b.buster. Now with the advent of their download plan (to counter their new competitor vongo) they're going to become even stronger. So instead of waiting a few days for your new movies you can just download them to your hard drive in DVD quality.

Fuck blockbuster.

No, in DivX quality;

And then what do you do with 'em?  Watch 'em ONCE on your PC monitor?

There's a huge advantage to having the DVD in your hands.

Bye bye Netflix.

Netflix has been good, and Gamefly is good.

I dislike Blockbuster for a few reasons, so I tend not buy from them.

first of all just because it's in DiVx format doesn't mean it's not dvd quality.  The netflix instant viewing plan works like this, if you spend 14 dollars a month for your membership you get 14 hrs of instant viewing at no extra chage.  So for every dollar you spend you get 1 hr of instant viewing.  Secondly there are plenty of ways to get video onto a tv set from your computer, i use an svideo connection and it works just fine.

Netflix isn't going anywhere, they were the innovator in online renting and have been around since 98.  Blockbuster came up with their online program as an answer to dwindling sales due to the popularity of netflix and have so far failed miserably in even coming close to touching netflix.

So id be saying goodbye to blockbuster long before netflix came close to shutting down.

I spend $18 a month for a Blockbuster total access membership and get unlimited viewing hours and can add to my DVD collection anything I might want to share or watch again.

No hours spent using my bandwidth downloading useless (after one view) files either.

Svideo!

What a joke! I use DVI to HDMI to my home theater system with coaxial digital for audio and the quality (no matter what player I use) doesn't come close to what I get from my 1080i up-converting DVD player.

Look who "doesn't know shit".

I've really liked Netflix, got it 3 or 4 months ago and have been impressed. I'm thinking of switching over to Blockbuster though, because everytime I mail a movie it takes 2 days to get there, and sometimes 2 to get back. And they don't process movies on weekends either, so sometimes it takes 5 days to get my movie. I would just be worried about getting shorted on selection from Blockbuster, because it seems like Netflix has just about every movie ever made, and I never have to wait for them to get another copy in stock.

Actually I'm gonna look into getting a trial run at Blockbuster right now.
