Blockbuster
    #4290925 - 06/13/05 01:23 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

I just got an automated phone call telling me that I didn't return something on time.

That's so annoying.

Get the monthly pass thing.

We pay $15 a month and can rent unlimited movies, with no return dates.  It's awesome.

Actually, I decided last time never to rent from Blockbuster again. I'm just gonna pay for NEtflix from now on.

Hey now, I thought the Machinist was quality. Christian Bale is..well..tits. Batman Begins will be grand.

Why didn't you like the Machinist?

I decided never to rent from Blockbusters also, but I broke that as theres one so near my house. But they do suck ass. Censoring movies, crappy policies and all...

I thought it was overly confusing and left too much open.

It paled on the suck-o-meter in comparison to Dark Town though.

/me shudders

God that was fucking awful.

I liked its exploration of guilt and how the mind can teach itself. That's what it was all about - the mind trying to work around itself. FASCINATING!

And he really lost all that weight for the role.

Wow.  He was so skinny, it was nasty.

I agree, I liked the guilt aspect of it as well, and what they chose to explain at the end, I enjoyed, but like I said, I feel like they left way too much open, and there was a lot that just didn't add up in my eyes.

about two years ago I was chilling with this girl. we rented some dvds and watched them. I left her apartment and was going to return them on my way home. She said "dont bother. I'll return them - I want to watch them again anyways." I was cool with considering the girl lived right next to the blockbuster - her building was connected.

I guess about 3 months later I get an automated phone message saying that they havent been returned.

I call her up and ask what the deal was. She says she forgot and will return them. Of course, she calls me back the next day and says she cannot find the dvds.

I find out the cost of replacing the dvds + fines is like $180 or some insane amount. I call her back and demand she pay. She writes me a check.

Of course, the check bounced.

Fuck that. So I show up at her apartment and demand cash straight up for the missing dvds, fines, and bounced check fee that I got fucked with. I was pissed. I practically dragged her to the closest ATM.

We arent friends anymore.

Yeah... like what was the point of his alterego having toes for fingers?
it was pretty retarded in my eyes.

"Ivan" was weird.

That was the part that bothered me the most. I don't think that "Ivan" was a good choice in how they chose to portray the alter ego he derived from his over whelming guilt. Ivan was more just annoying, and had a bad accent.

Although the scene where he slit Ivan's throat was nice and gritty.

Yeah that was pretty good.  Lots of blood

The part where Miller gets owned in the machine made me cringe.  I hid in suffer's armpit for most of that part.

Yeah that part was sooo intense. Have you seen Million Dollar Baby? I loved that film intensely. I laughed, I cried.
