poppie seeds from wal-mart

Ive seen the store seeds at wal-mart that say poppie. Is this the right kind of poppie? i thought it ws illegal.

I'm pretty sure those are Oriental Poppies, not Opium Poppies

Unless you're in the spice aisle, US sprawl*warts don't sell P. somniferums, where it is illegal to grow them (but often over-looked).  Check out the Garden's FAQ for planting times in your climate and growing instructions. :sun:

Are you guys certain? I found Hens and Chicks awhile back at a Wal-Mart and bought them, but unfortunately none of them ever grew. I am curious as to if they were really P. somniferums or not.

pap. somniferum seeds are sometimes sold as spice in the wal-mart BUT remember that these seeds are a special grow of P.S.
they don´t contain enough Opium....
