Strange and beautiful find.

Found three of these growing together... sorry about the blurry ass camera phone images. I need to start bringing a real digital camera everywhere I go.




the gills look like lace or something. I took the pics last week, so I don't even know if there are any more where I found them. Didn't get a spore print, but thought the gills were distinctive enough that it may be possible to ID it. It dried to a reddish brown color, and the edges curled up a bit, leaving the mushroom shaped like a heptagon. I can post a pic of the dried mushroom that's a bit clearer pic. The space between the veins in the gills is a dark grey color, so I'm guessing that's the spore color.

not my area, I've always passed with an admiration on the shape. I have gone so far to call out marasmius not orates. Pluteus and as last resort pretty little lawn mushroom.

Is it sliming. Or frail like wing of moth? Or a delicate flower crumbling under its own wetness? Lawn Lawn stump I suppose.

yeah.. crappy razor camera phone. sorry again about the blurriness. I tried to get it home and photograph it, but it was half dried out by the time I got to a proper camera.

It's not sliming. It was moist, but not overly so. The cap was very thin where there were no veins, and the edges were translucent, so frail would be a good descriptor, but it wasn't fragile and falling apart. I'll see if I can get another one to photograph sometime soon.
