Should ratings left by banned users be displayed?

The reason this was changed was in response to demand, to try and make users more satisfied. Not because of a "Drama Virus in the mainframe of the Shroomery's hard-drive" as some people have speculated. :rolleyes: But let's just take a poll and clear it up. No ratings were deleted (just hidden) so it can be changed at any time.
Should ratings from banned users be displayed?

I am on the fence on this one.  Sometimes when a user is banned it is because they were a complete fucktard and went around screwing up all kinds of things.  Other times people get banned although they have contributed and their rating is valid.  I think there are a lot of ratings left by people being spiteful though, moreso than valid ratings by users who have been banned so I went ahead and voted get rid of them all.

One of my favorite ratings is gone because of this. Psilokitten rated me a 5er and a week later after I had to warn her for some bogus flames or something, she edited it to state: "He is drunk on his own power." I wore it like a badge of honor.. but maybe this is just the drama virus in the mainframe of my mind talking.

I voted no, but only because I have several puppet ratings. If you needing 100-150 posts to leave ratings (or puppets were caught faster).


looking back, puppet trading ratings would not stand. So if a real user was banned, and they had multiple trades with people, there trade ratings should stand. That seams like common sense; but i voted hastily.

trade ratings are rarer, and quickly taken care of. Ythair and anno cannot be bogged down with mungopuppet general ratings. They are busy with tehgrowery.

Weather or not someone stops posting or is banned, their ratings should stand.

Sing it with me.

Ratings display the feelings of other members about you throughout time regardless of weather or not they still post.

The only reason anyone would want to have ratings removed is in hope of getting a higher rating.

I can't think of a logical reason why the ratings of a banned user should be removed.

I think the public rating system is good for the site.

The only time ratings should be removed is if the user is banned for being a puppet.

I think the rating system, with the exception of trade ratings, is irrelevant to the site. It is kind of fun, though. Its amazing how many people will become so consumed by the fact that they received a bad rating, or will get so pissed off over some trivial thing that they hand down this angry, judgemental rating as though they are dispensing God's angry justice or some shit. :lol:

I voted that trade ratings should remain. I guess I don't see any reason the ratings of banned users should be removed at all though, unless, like Redstorm said, they were puppet accounts. Perhaps when someone is permanently banned for such, in the BoM, it will have a box you can check for whether or not the ratings should be removed as well.

And we are only talking about permanently banned users, correct?

Trade ratings are all that really matter. Just because someone is banned, so long as they aren't a puppet, the valid trade ratings they gave other people should remain - it only helps perpetuate trading among trustworthy members.

I could care less about general ratings, although I think they're kind of pointless and it shouldn't matter if they stay or go.

So is this why I can't see my one bad rating but I still have a 4.7 overall?

I think general ratings should be deleted when the member gets banned, what purpose do they serve? Trade ratings on the other hand should stick.
