Casing covers.. Throw out or not?
    #7011268 -

I currently cover my casings with the lids the small containers came with, I pull up one corner to allow air to go through (its not a very big crack)

Should I chunk that idea out the window, and put foil or saran wrap over it with small holes, and or micropore tape?

Foil works good for casing covers...but you can use the lids but put 1/4 inch holes in the lid...and cover that with some sort of filter of your choice...

But having one area poen to the rooms air isnt particullarly the best way for gas exchange because it gives more surface area for airborne contaminates to land on.

just like jccc said, poke 1/4" holes in the top (2 or 3) then cover those holes with micropore tape. i like this better than foil because they're much more sturdy (and you can stack em).

I have been thinking about doing that.. Might have to, I am having to many green mold problems :frown: Have to redo how I do things to increase success rate !

Sucks arse I can get spawn jars soooooooooo good, probably 95% success rate, then the spawning just goes to heck!

However if I just case the wbs with 50/50 I get 5-6 flushes! They are just tiny though :frown: So I know my casing is for sure not the prob.. dang spawning stage grr!

I use coir, I heat one gallon per brick of coir, to near boiling then dump into a 5 gallon bucket, wait until its cool enough to handle.

Storing the casings? What do you mean??
