basically anyway you can do like 12 jars at a time in this step of the procedure?

this 4 steaming at a time is crappy

Well technically you do as many as you can fit in a pressure cooker, but when steaming I like to have the jars in the water to insure they achieve a high temp to kill contams. So unless you can get a huge pot, I would stick with what fits in the bottom of a pot, or buy a pressure cooker. I do six at a time. Pain in the ass, yes, but worth it? Yes.

I'm not quite sure on what you are asking, but you can sterelize as many jars that will fit in your pressure cooker.

I wish a good microwave tech would come out. Microwaves heat from the inside out, and any evaporation would condense on other particles of substrate or jar walls. This would be easy, and a microwave on high would sterilize it so quick. The problem is the damn metal lids. You can buy those plastic ones though.

The problem is the damn metal lids.
I've microwaved quart jars with metal lids on for making honey/malt water (with a hole poked in the top and the lid on loosely). Before placing in the microwave I cover the jar with a Quart size Glad "Stand & Zip" bag. This is enough to prevent arcing in the microwave. After the jar has cooled for a couple of minutes, using oven mits I grasp the jar and tighten the lid with the bag still covering it.

Actually i have done them in one of those oven toasters before. i layered saran wrap with aluminum over it on the jars and stuck twelve in for about an hour. Everyone of them colonized great. I don't know, maybe i was just lucky.

the biggest problem you canhave there i would think would be loss of water. the BBQ/Toaster uses dry heat and will dry out the substrate.

just my 2 cents
