hummm...just for future reference, you wouldnt want to do "tests" like this from spores...as each spore inoculation is a diff. substrain...you would have to knock each jar up w/ an isolate...either from a clone 2 a lc...or from agar isolations...anyways, you should give it a go, im sure you'll learn something...

Just my experience, over the years.

Agar isolate to LC, to wbs/grain, then G2G, to h/poo/compost.
Is about as fast as you can get.

Isolate gives you robust strain.
LC (w/stir plate) gives you lots of live inoculate quickly.
(stir plate shreds myc tiny, for more contact points)
G2G is fast spawn propagation.
H/poo/compost is a near optimal substrate.

I skipped cakes, and started out bulk, from the git-go.

I also made all the common mistakes, novices do.
Mush/cult is part procedure & part art form.
But, learning procedure, comes from experience.
The "art" part comes AFTER you have the procedures.
DOWN PAT.

Best advice I can give, is:
1. Buy at least an AA 921 to start.
(wbs/grain is optimal spawn)
2. Build a good (large) STILL AIR glove box.
(cuts contam rates significantly)
3. Buy/build a fruiting chamber.
(will double as an spawn jar incubator)
Have all that on hand, and tuned in.
Then, go for it.

What works for some, doesn't for others.
You just have to LEARN, what works for you.

A manure based compost is the optimal cubensis substrate.

Forgot to mention.

If you have the room & means.
Learn rudimentary composting.

A p/u truck load of manure.
A few bales of straw.
Fruit/veggie culls/waste.
And, some grass/leaves clippings.
A little gypsum.
And, you can make a 1000 ++ lbs of good bulk substrate.
In a summer, easy.
Once done, dry & store it.
And, restart the pile.

If you do not have the room for composting.
Find a local source of h/poo FREE.
