Alcohol on a plane?

Can you bring a bottle of alcohol in your luggage that will be checked? say a half gallon of whiskey, without any issues?

Yes. As long as it's checked. Carry on, nothing more than 3oz I believe.

be careful, though... some kinds of high proof alcohol (like bacardi 151 or captain morgan) cannot be even checked in, because they are so flammable...

What kind of Capitan Morgans do you drink? All the stuff I've seen/drank was run of the mill 80 proof.

I think the higher proof liquors, probably higher than 100, have to be checked separately and there is a hazardous materials fee.

Yeah. Good point. Every time I travel with liquor in my suitecase I transfer it to a plastic bottle. Those baggage handlers might as well give each suitcase 3 good hits with a sledge hammer.

You bet. When we stepped on the yellow footprints at the MCRD in San Diego(Marines bootcamp) - one guy had a bottle of Jack in his bag that went CLUNK when we were told to drop our shit. He was on my flight. Ha ha ha, holy shit. Glad it wasn't me.

Yeah, I doubt you can take any sort of liquor on the plane with you.

if you're over 21, there's no reason to bring your own liquor on the flight, because they ALWAYS have some decent bloody marys and cute little vodka bottles on board to quench your thirst ...

I love drinking my flight away ... I can't stand flying, for a whole bunch of reasons, and can never wait to get off the plane, so I thank god I'm over 21 whenever I need to fly somewhere.

man, last time I was flying, I remember hearing "domestic beers are $8 a can."

I thanked myself for smoking lots of bong bowls before I left and closed my eyes.

yup. almost anywhere in the USA, at least, you have to even toss toothpaste if you have it in your bag. same goes for cologne and stuff, I think.

and security fucking SUCKS at the airport these days. it's like they are purposely trying to fuck over your day by hassling you about every damn thing you have with you. they are probably just horribly miserable people. I mean, that's why they work airport security, right?

You can check booze, at least I could last time I flew. It's just carry-ons that don't allow liquids.

can't you just buy a bottle of booze at the airport once you get past the security checks?

or don't you get liquor and ciggy stores in airports in the States?

Here in Europe you are not allowed to bring any liquid past the security checks but once in the boarding area you can buy all the stuff you want in the "duty free" stores

They limit you to 3oz bottles of liquids that have to be kept in a clear ziplock bag for easy check through security for all carry on luggage.

Checked luggage, I think you can have as much as you want since it's not accessible to you. The US and Britain had a FULL ban right after those britons were arrested for a plot to mix liquid peroxide bombs on planes and bring them down in the Atlantic. The US only had a ban for like half a month before they instituted the 3oz regulations so people can bring their liquid meds or baby formula on board with no hassle.

And remember, no matter how much of a pain in the ass Airport security checks are, you have to remember that they are only trying to save your sorry ass in case some assholes decide to take over the plane with a boxcutter and fly it into a building or another crazy Brit tries to pack a bomb in his shoe again.
