Artificially pollinating Morning Glory Flowings???
    #691674 -

Would Ipomoea violacea (Morning Glory) need to be artificially pollinated in order to produce seeds, if grown indoors away from any helpful insects?

If not, would artificial pollinating be required for producing viable geminating seeds?

I am currently transferring pollen from plant to plant using a small paint brush (that is what I mean by artificial pollinating). Is this necessary?

Regards

hay salvia, I had the same problem. After some time of thinking I just let the plant grow. at the end of its growing seasion, I noticed that the plant had indeed produced seeds. and they grew very strong. Thus I came to the conclusion that cross polination between morning glory plants is not needed, now to produve a new vive of morning glory plants try crossing Ipomoea violacea with one of the tri collors, I did this once the plant grew very well and the flower was a beauty, but it dies not too long after that first flower blooms, never had a chance to get seed from it.

Thanks for the info lobo, I think I will carry on pollinating the flowers with a paint brush to make sure.

Were yours grown indoors also?
