I would like to begin by saying that I've learned a lot since i came around and started reading everything there is to read on the shroomery.
That said, I would like some advice.
My mother and father divorced when I was 9. This came unexpectedly as they seemed to be happy. Our family of four ived in a country house that was almost paid off, we had two paid off vehicles and were basically living the american dream. One day, my mom met a police officer that came into her emergency room with a crash victim. Apparently they struck a conversation and all hell broke loose. Within 3 months my mom and dad had divorced and me and my sister weren't allowed to see our dad. Mom's been running around with this guy for 3 months and me and my sister had absolutely no idea, mom had us believing dad was the bad guy. This continued until mom bought a house and her boyfriend moved in with us.
We were all relatively happy living together. This went on for about a year, until we could start seeing dad again.
After a year or so of my mom and stepfather being married, they accidentally had a baby girl. Then, two years after that they had another baby. This time it was a boy. This caused a lot of problems trying to live with them, having a part-time job at 15, and being required to help babysit. Basically me and my sister were very convenient babysitters. They didn't really go out and do anything fun, but they'd work a lot which means that me and my sister would be stuck at home on weekends since that's when they work. I began to hate life there, so I started living with my dad more.
Me living with my dad was hurtful to my mom and stepdad, or so they said. They always tried to get me to come back, and for awhile I did. But only for one night or so. Once I got my driver's license however, I stopped going altogether. My dad lives thirty minutes from my high school, and my mom lives in the same town as my high school, making it hard to keep from seeing them considering my stepfather is also a police officer in that town and I see him while driving all the time. He doesn't wave.
Now, if I told you he was an ignorant asshole I wouldn't be doing any justice to his personality. He is a perfectionist, a control freak(which comes from being a cop) and incredibly narrow-minded. I also can't stand the town he works in. It's a smaller rural town where binge drinking is common by both teenagers and their parents, and the cops won't write you a ticket if they know you or your parents. Corruption among the force is nothing new in this town.
Back to the story though, My sister is now going through the same issues with my mom and stepdad that I did, with them trying to control every aspect of her life. Not letting her go out on the weekends, and making her do things that are not necessary, such as cleaning the whole house once a week. Her life is now hell there and I now have to drive her home everyday, which makes things harder for me. I forgot to mention that I started smoking weed about a year ago, well after I'd moved out though. At first it was only something I did once in a great while, but now it's become an everyday thing. I am aware that I need to control myself, but I don't believe it's the cause of the problems in my life.
I'm 18 now and All of my parents know that I smoke weed, including officer stepdad. He also knows my friends and what they're known for and when I talked to him today for the first time in a year, he made it a point to tell me that my friends are trash basically because they smoke dope. He said that pot is just as dangerous as alcohol, in a county where alcohol is the main ingredient in more than 20 deaths yearly. Several of those usually are teenagers. But, I'm the one with the problem. Forget that I got a 29 on my ACT and have a 3.5 GPA. Forget everything else that I do productively. Because I smoke dope, I AM A LOSER! that's the mentality. When I walked in he even asked me if I had any on me and when I said no he asked if he could look to make sure. He also has my mother brainwashed to the point that it's sickening. They both honestly believe that I shouldn't smoke pot solely because it's illegal. I tell them that its legal status is bullshit, and that the system is fucked up, but they won't have it.
So now they both not only know that I smoke, but that I'm not going to stop and that they won't change my mind because I think like an adult.
I really would like to know how I should deal with this. They say we just have to agree to disagree, and I don't think that's acceptable.
BTW: sorry if the story doesn't flow perfectly. Try to get the idea. If the story is too ambiguous, I'll be around to elaborate.
THANKS!
