I was just genuinely interested in how much you are diving into it.

Ah ok
Well I dive in as deep as an investment should be: I won't cry if it all goes wrong, but I'll definitely cheer if it only goes half right.
Not to deep and not too shallow - just right for me.

I'm not rich, many people in my neighborhood earn more than me.

Right now im focused more on real estate and large blue chips but will be looking into precious metals soon enough.

Consider this..

Lets say your country has an economic growth of 2.5%, but it annually outputs a cumulative 10% surplus of money.. What will that do to your dollars and euros? This seems to be the case with europe and america alike. Inflation in europe and the US is much higher than the official inflation figures suggest. Shit is getting expensive fast. The real inflation is probably in the 5-7.5% range. Lets take a median of that  at an assumed 6.25% real inflation.

That means that any investment that yields less than 6.25% does nothing but slow the demise of your capital. A savings account ain't SHIT anymore. Its got to net 6.25% profit or you won't even break even. Oh and all the little premiums and fees of your investment transactions add to the figure as well. You got to beat those also.

Gold and silver have their fluctuations, but on the whole they are among the best liquid preserve of value there is. On top of that gold and silver, like outlined in this and related threads, are expected by many to significantly rise in value, instead of merely correcting for inflation.

And the majority on this site are more interested in reading two liners about how to make your nugs look super sweet and not so much in depth financial info. Think there's a niche for a finance/investment forum?

I think the niche would be quite small. A subforum perhaps but I proposed this to the admins a while ago and they didn't see a future for it.

I think we have a lot of members who spend a bit too much of their money on drugs. :frown: With smoking just a joint a day less people could buy a 10oz silver bar or 1/4oz gold coin every month, but many members have yet to warm up to the idea.

I saw a report the other day where people were stealing copper vases from people's headstones. If they're grave robbing you know that copper is a precious metal.

Well I'm beating the transaction fees for investing going with Interactive Brokers. They charge only $2 per transaction (buy or sell 100 or less shares) which is next to nothing. I just opened up a line of credit and dropped it all in investments. I pay back $200/month and the interest charged to me is tax deductible. I'm banking on the stocks that pay steadily increasing dividends which is the most favourably taxed income source.

I wasent jumping head over heals, but like you sais a bit less weed and you could get silver. I happen to have a 20$ I was gonna spend on 4 xanax bars, but in 5 years, I could possibly buy 20 xanax bars with my earnings from a 1 ounce silver coin/bar.If i do this once a week, ill have quite a collection in a year or so.

That could be a good thing considering you can buy bulk in lieu of being billed job to job.  Just more leg work.

Where do you keep this wire, btw?

yea but see they made a % of markup on thier material and they think they are still entitled to that % despite not purchasing anything

I actually had a company raise thier hourly rate to me citing the cost of copper? how insane is that?

When we handle material we didn't purchase we still charge a profit on it. Our GC's and CM's don't like it, but it is justified.

Raising an hourly rate is bullshit if it's because copper. On commercial work I'd show them the wage scale and tell em to suck it.

I don't know, my dad, when he gets copper from his suppliers the prices been going up, the same with zinc. So then when he in return sells the stuff, he has to raise the price. In the end only the consumer has to pay or work harder.

There's a transition period where businesses are locked into contracts and are stuck footing the bill way before consumers feel the effects.

Silver is currently trading at just below $14 per ounce. Gold Investments continue to believe that silver will surpass $20 per ounce in 2007, its non inflation adjusted high of $48.70 per ounce before 2012 and its inflation adjusted high of some $130 per ounce in the next 8 years.

So.

Marijuana is worth approximately 20X as much as silver, per unit weight.

And I can grow it in my closet.

Hmmm...Which to invest in...
