I've been searching google for about 30mins now, looking for an image of 'NOx production'

I'm writing a paper on the catalytic reduction of NOx to N2 + Ox by TiO2.. Its quite an interesting topic; the japanese have invented these paving slabs that under sunlight cause NOx to adsorb and be reduced to their constituents.. rendering them harmless... :grin:

But I need a good image on how NOx are produced in the first place :frown: and my gimpshop skillz suck :frown:

He wants a visual representation of the reactions in a closed environment...

[EDIT] Just find a generic photo, and rename the molcules to make it look like what you want...use photoshop.

Yeah you know how N2 reacts with oxygen in a car engine at a high temp and pressure.. Well basically I'm looking for a representation of that..

A three step thing..

Heat produced by burning of Hydrocarbons in excess of Oxygen -> O2 reacts with N2 (from air) in heat -> NO reacts with O. to form NO2..

I figured there would be a representation of this somewhere on the net ... :shrug:

all these Images show the removal of NOx.. I'm looking for one that shows the production..

The first question I have to answer on this paper is 'outline how the main pollutants are formed in vehicle engines'

N2 + O2 --heat--> 2 N=O

2 N=O + O2 ----> 2 NO2

These reactions basically do it. If you see a nuclear airburst you see a huge brown or black cloud forming. Where does this "smoke" come from? The heat of the nuclear weapon decomposes the air to give these reactions. The first requires lots of heat the second goes at room temperature.

.. I know how it works.. I'm looking for an image to illustrate this.

I have a word limit; but annotated pictures don't count towards it. I could ramble on for pages about NOx's but I only have about 400 words to do it in..
