vitamins for 19 yo female

so i'm 19. and a female.
and i need to start taking vitamins. i'm living in the dorm, so i don't get a lot of vitamin c, but i take 500mg of chewable vitamin c tablets when i remember.
but i need vitamins for everything else too.

my eating habits aren't too good. i usually eat once or twice a day. depending when i wake up.
i could manage to lose some weight, so i usually bike ride everyday (if it's not raining)
oh. and i am a vegetarian.

can anyone recommend me good vitamins i should be taking?

1 a day multi vitamins are packed full of good vitamins.

keep up on protein too since your a veg.

Before you take vitamins, eat something that has some fat in it.This will help you're body,use more of the vitamins.Because, you will piss out most of the vitamin.

Water is bad if you drink too much of it. For the most part, the only difference between good food and bad food is the amount we consume.

I take childrens vitamins... the flintstone complete chewables to be precise. I cringe whenever I see people popping handfuls of pills like candy. Too much in many cases is worse than too little. When I was vegetarian, I also took a b12 supplement.

Fairly typical 19 year old female thought process... :nono:

Everything is bad in excess, but fat is a very needed and very important part of any diet. Without it, you'd be in pretty bad shape... the trick is eating the proper amount.

some have mentioned women's multi-vitamin, since you are a vegetarian you may want to try looking for the vegetarian multi-vitamins instead.

B12 is a must if you're a vegetarian because it is uncommon outside of meat. Or so I am told.

If you're a vegetarian woman I HIGHLY recommend supplementing your iron as you lose it every month when you bleed, and you probably don't get as much if you aren't eating red meat. Dark, leafy greens are pretty good for that though. Important stuff. Also, a B complex, or at least B12. Take Iron and C together, the C helps the iron absorb. Never take Calcium and iron together, however, as the calcium binds to the iron and prevents it from absorbing.

Also, fat is NOT bad! It depends on the source of the fat. Yeah, McDonalds is sick... but plenty of olive oil, avocadoes, eggs nuts and other such sources of good fats are extremely important. Your brain sucks that stuff back pretty quick, and if you don't get enough fat your neurons fire more slowly. That makes you slow and stupid. If you don't get enough fat it will also fuck up your menstrual cycle and horomone balance. If you're not eating meat you are actually more at risk for getting too little fat than too much, unless of course you're pounding back the dairy. If you are, reconsider. That stuff is yuck.

:grin:  I honestly believe that they are healthier, in most cases, than the fully loaded multi-vitamins that have a zillion percent of the daily recommended quantities.  It can be hard on the body to get rid of all the extras, from the multi-vitamins, that aren't needed.

shit.
i think i'd rather get those flinstone vitamins because these vitamins are so huge and taste so bad, and as i have trouble getting them down with water, gagging them back up, the taste gets worse.
