Anyone ever get a work holiday visa?

I'm going to be applying for one to Australia. It's $185.

Before I do that though, I gotta get my passport back so I can fill out the actual work holiday visa application.

Anyone do this before(perhaps not to australia, but the process should be similiar)...how long did it take?

Me and my gf have dates to leave in the middle of september, but I don't think that's going to happen.

She's going to have her passport back by july and mine is the 1st of August if I'm lucky(and you absoulutely need to have your passport before you can start filling out the visa application).

So I think our plans are going to be fuddled and I can see getting into australia october if we are lucky.

Anyway, what's everyone's experience with this?

And, when I go, any recommended places to go, visit, do, etc?
