Is it too late? I hope to have some azure or cyan spores by the end of the month....too late?

it will take a month to a month and a half to colonize azures. they need to be planted in april/may

they may not fruit this fall, but will the next year provided the wood chips are in continuous supply and kept wet throughout the summer.

this is what I have read and am going to try to do.
My azures are here now and I am spawning them as soon as the agar plates are colonized.

I figure that I will not get any this fall, but will next fall.

I dont think there is ever a bad time to spawn and plant.
Just a delay in fruiting.

There's plenty of time if you colonize grains first, then inoculate supplemented hardwood chips/sawdust in filter patch bags. When they're fully colonized, plant them into a bed of chips/sawdust outdoors, but don't break up the sawdust/chips from the bag, as they might not have time to recover setting them out in July, which is about when they'll be ready. You should get a small fruiting from the area the original bags were placed. Don't pick more than ten to twenty percent of the fruits the fist year. Allow the natural process of slugs, bugs, birds, etc., to eat them and spread the patch.
