Female seeds?

so me and my friend are gonna grow in new york, and he told me to get some seeds that are all females, and i said its a game of chance if it is male or female and he said you could order all female seeds. When i was a member of overgrow they said you only discover if its a male or female after a certain stage in growing. Can anyone tell us if this is true or not?

You can order feminized seeds, but they are significantly more money than normal seeds.

And yes there is no way to tell the sex of a plant until a certain stage of development.

It's true that you can only tell a plant's gender in a certain part of it's growing cycle. I don't know this from experience though :wink:

I wouldnt bother buying feminized seeds, they are much more expensive, and it's easy to weed out the males, and you can always take clones of your females for more plants.

Plants will show sex on veg cycle after about 4-6 weeks, however they will show sex much quicker when put into flower cycle. When left on veg, the sex preflowers will develope much slower than on flower, and will take considerably longer to sex. I've accidently cut down great looking "females" because of seeing weird male-like growth on one node, and then a female preflower with a hair above it on the next node, which could have possibly been a hermie, but I have had plants that have had weird growth or even new nodes come out where the preflowers are supposed to be!

My advice: Don't hack it until it is obviously sexed one way or another.

Why would you won't to buy "female" seeds. When, Cannabis can change sex's.When you have a known female plant, just keep cloneing it.
