shitting corn

am i even obtaining anything beneficial from corn???:confused: i chew it up as well as possible but theres always a few pieces that are 100% intact.

Nope, you don't get much nutrition from corn. It's just roughage. Humans don't have the ability to digest cellulose, which is what plants are made out of. We lost that ability somewhere during evolution.

I could tell you more about it, but that'd just get too nerdy.

what if i chewed it up REALLY WELL. almost too good... would i get anything out of it? am i wasting my time with corn??

im sure some others have had a little corn during this easter weekend:D

Plants are not completely cellulose (And as far as corn goes there is minimul amounts of cellulose in the kernals or else they would be green) and in regards to humans: I thought we were one of many species that CAN digest cellulose (thats why greens are not shat out thier original color, I've never shit out undigested looking lettuce?)...

I was wondering that too....

No matter how well you chew, it always comes out kernels in the end :lol:

The same goes for spaghetti and puking.  Chew it up all you want but if for some reason it comes back up later, most of it will be back in tact.

I've always had the theory that when you chew corn kernels up in your mouth you squish all the internal mush and nutrients out and then you just swallow the yellow rubbery shell because our teeth don't chew them up. (I mean they're filled with soft mush it's obvious they would be relatively hard for teeth to chew up before you usually swallow.) So then... the rubber shells go down into our systems later to be filled with our feces right before exiting our butts. Lol. It's funny. But I think it's true. The "intact" kernels are probably shit filled corn kernel shells. At least IMHO.

makes sense to me, similar to nuts I guess we cant digest those but our bodies pull the nutrients and fat out...

try creamed corn

we do receive nutrition (carbs mostly as corn is a grain) from corn, but not as much as if you were to dry it, grind it up, and use it as corn meal

Think about the number of obese Americans and the amount of corn syrup we consume through soda and virtually anything else that's both processed and sweetened.  Many of us have trouble digesting it.  Certainly you can live without ever consuming it.
