Pet Food Recall Expands to New Wet Brand

Nestle Purina PetCare Co. said it was recalling all sizes and varieties of its Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food with specific date codes. Purina said a limited amount of the food contained a contaminated wheat gluten from China......i buy this shit for my dog...:confused:

Ya my GF fed our cats one of the brands of wet food I saw briefly on the news tonight this morning!! Of course because everything is owned by a small group of companies now it's hard to tell.
(soon 7 companies will run our entire food supply....or wait, maybe they already do now???)

The name they gave on the news was the parent company. Get online and check those labels people. Find out what you have.

Of course the contamed wheat gluten, which was supposedly the problem(it had a nasty chemical on it) was in the package I checked.

It's called "natural choice" :rolleyes: Ya right. Natural is what Ganja here does for his dog. He mixes up meat and veggies himself for his dog. That's "NATURAL"

Pet food here in Canada isn't regulated, so I guess they could get away with almost anything.

Just another sign there is something deeply wrong with our food systems.

Yeah I got an email from my ex 2 weeks ago.. she was devastated because her 10 month old terrier puppy bit the dust unexpectedly after she paid like $8k in vet bills. They did tests and found out it died due to liver failure - rat poison. In that brand of food. That's really shitty to lose your best friend due to contaminated food that you were feeding it. Nature's best my ass.

lab results showed it wasnt rat poison, it was a fetilizer and some shit used in the making of plastic that begins with a 'm'

I remember doing a report in 8th grade about how dead dogs are used in some dog food brands from Canada. I don't think I had much creditability, and I doubt I cited any sources, but there's some good reading that you can find on Google about it.

go to either menu foods website or the brand of food website. Then they tell you the tainted plant codes and lot #s

Hill's Pet Nutrition said late Friday that its Prescription Diet m/d Feline dry cat food included the tainted wheat gluten. The FDA said the source was the same unidentified company. Hill's, a division of Colgate-Palmolive Co., is so far the only company to recall any dry pet food. The recalled 13.2-ounce and 22-ounce ALPO Prime Cuts cans and 6-, 8-, 12- and 24-can ALPO Prime Cuts Variety Packs have four-digit code dates of 7037 through 7053, followed by the plant code 1159. Those codes follow a "Best Before Feb. 2009" date. This information should be checked on the bottom of the can or the top or side of the multi-pack cartons....My dogs food is in the clear...

$8k? Anything over a few hundred is a denial of the nature of reality - animals die, don't ruin yourself paying extraordinary vet bills. :grin:
