My favorite CD is Infected Mushroom - Converting Vegetarians (CD2).  Check it out!  A little different, but well worth it.

Indeed, converting veggies disc 2 has so many great tracks. my favs are Blink, I Wish, Drop Out, and Illuminaughty...they hvae the coolest names for songs. :laugh:

Yeah infected is good. I've been lisening to them for a while.

Juno Reactor and astral projection is what got me started into psy however.

I use 'electronica' as the generic term.

Techno is most definately a specific style.

yeah, but electronica incorporates groups like linkin park, and even nine inch nails.


genres like electronica, techno, rock, classical...these are all umbrella genres. trance, psytrance/goa, house, progressive trance, vocal, DnB, Jungle, and even dance, etc...THESE are the specifics of techno.
Tiesto is NOT psytrance. he might have a few songs which were remixed to be trippy (even Oakenfold put out a GOA mix), but the majority of his stuff is dance, trance, mainstream cheese-techno

to threadstarter:
your best bet in discovering new music in a sub genre like psytrance, especially in techno, is to pick up a Various Artists compilation like GOA Trance Mix, etc. Theyre all over the shelves. This is because techno artists more often than not only come out with like a couple songs at a time. Producers dont put out albums (except for a few). It's more often the DJ's who mix these one-hit wonders into their sets where youll find em.

Techno is a genre of its own. Techno , hard techno, acid techno etc.

agreed.

techno is a genre. hard techno and acid techno/house all fit under techno, though.
calling music techno is like calling zeppelin rock. yeah, youre technically right, but more specifically a lot of people would think theyre classic rock...a sub genre.
