a) cakes put right on perlite in the bottom of terrarium? b) cakes put right on verm in the bottom of terrarium? c) cakes put on perlite in a foil pan with holes with perlite on bottom of terrarium? d) cakes put on perlite in a foil pan with holes with verm on bottom of terrarium? e) cakes put on verm in a foil pan with holes with perlite on bottom of terrarium? f) cakes put on verm in a foil pan with holes with verm on bottom of terrarium? g) cakes put on lid of jar with holes with perlite on bottom of terrarium? h) cakes put on lid of jar with holes with verm on bottom of terrarium?
also question: do you need to sterileize the perlite or verm that the cakes are placed in? i'm guessing you do. if so, how do you do that? just wet the verm and bake it & if so how long and at what temperature? thanks

You could eliminate half of what you wrote by taking all the ones with verm in them...
I don't know what letter it is, but cakes sitting on caps in verm, or on foil with a little mesh so they don't start to sink!

Reading that gave me a headache
I keep reading that you shouldnt place cakes directly on perlite. Ive heard it may soak up extra water...but i dont see the problem. I place my cakes on plastic lids, but not the ones from the jars. I like to have them so i can make more substrate right away. Im not sure if you meant this in a couple of your options, but i wouldnt put verm on the bottom of the terarium. First of all, it wont help the humidity like perlite. Second, it sounds like that would halp contams spread. Also, I use perlite so I dont have to syphon out water that collects on the bottom. The perlite soaks this right up.
