Sometimes;

When they're fresh they usually smell GREAT...just VERY mushroomery!
When they're dry they usually smell HORRIBLE...just VERY cow-shitty!

ive never had a problem with the taste. its just very earthy thats all. i have more trouble with the dry texture of them, like chewing wood; makes me gag sometimes.
