First, you WILL need to invest in some basic equipment to ensure success. You dont, however have to spend a fortune to do so. Read the MMGG (Magic Mushroom Grow Guide in the grow/find section here at the shroomery and then read other teks (technique) as you will then be able to see many set ups and decide which is best for you and your budget.

just the "bare necessities" sounds like you need to try the "Shroom Wizard Grow Guide" which can be found in the "grow/find" section of the shroomery (look to your left at the menu  i have heard great results using shroom wizard's tek. -paco *really stoned* ------------------

Thanks for the info guys. I'll still take any other advice any of you have, though Sorry if I sounded like someone who didn't wanna put any effort out. I have "done my homework", but I just wanted to get some more info from other growers.

If I had discovered perlite humidification (*highly* reccommended!) before purchasing an ultrasonic humidifier, tubing, etc., I would've spent a total of $40 for a quantity of shrooms that, on the street, would've run me and my pals around $200. Skip a couple meals and set yourself up with an easy and inexpensive perlite humidified farm... what you'll watch happen will be like watching magic. Well worth it. Good luck! GT **Guess we haven't really answered your question, though, have we? My set up required: 12 1/2 pint Kerr jars ($8), a small bag of vermiculite ($3), a small bag of brown rice flour ($2), a spore syringe from PF ($10), a glass fish aquarium ($9, WalMart), a small bag of perlite ($3), some saran wrap for the top of the terrarium ($2). Oh, yeah- for incubation of jars, I used a tupperware ($5) and a ceramic space heater ($15, also at Wally World, optional.) So a little over $40. $55 if your heating pad goes on the fritz and you decide to buy a space heater to keep your kiddies warm and cozy. Oh, I almost forgot to ask this: Has anyone here used the SA (south american) strain form sporechicks? Because that's what I'm using, and I hope that it's resilient (sp?) enough so that I'm able to get some good growth even if I make a few mistakes.

The ShroomGods Tek is a good one and its realitivly low cost you can go all out but you dont have too. The other simple tek that will produce shrooms and is real cost effective is the Sea Of Shrooms Tek. I forget if it can be found in the grow/find section but you can do a search for it and it will come up. Its not a favorite but I like it better the the PF or MMGG teks. To bad I didint read till after I got my jars going with the MMGG! DOH!------------------

So, In your opinion, which is better? The "Shroom Wizard Grow Guide" or the "Sea of Shrooms Tek"? Because the one I had thought looked good was the "shroom wizard grow guide". I haven't seen the "plans" for the "Sea of Shrooms Tek"

Without any hesitation I would recomend the shroom wizards tek. It costs virtually nothing, as long as you can get your cakes colonized without contamination it will work for you, it is simplicity itself. Go for it !From another old guy. Included is a pic from my first attempt at shroom wizards tek.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I'm so glad that everyone here is so willing to help. O haven't even started growing, and I already am excited! Those shrooms in that pic look good enough to....well.... eat!I'll post often to let you people know how "things" are doing.

I'm using Treasure Coast, South American, Ecuadorian, and Mexico #3 strains, all from sporechicks. The South American and Mexico Strains were the last to fully colonize, but not by much. Treasure Coast really took off, and in a few days I should see pinning (I hope!!!). I'll let you know how the South American strain turns out as soon as possible. Hell, I might even have a few pics, too. I innoculated 23 jars (the 24th is at the bottom of the sea with a little present inside...) and have no contamination, and I'm growing in my college dorm room. I would say that all of those strains are pretty resilient, old guy. ------------------
