Beginning Grower Advice Please (Grow Kits)
    #3610700 - 01/10/05 11:50 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

If one was to order a mexican cubensis grow kit from www.weedcity.com .. what would one need in addition to what comes with the kit in order to grow them. How many times can i expect the grow kit to produce flushes of caps? Please also list any advisory details you may have from personal experience.

Don't bother with grow kits. They are a waste of money. Just do the pftek and then go on to grains and casings. The pftek is really easy.

alright, this guy COULD have bought one already, did you guys think about that? or perhaps his friend did? i'll go look at it and give you my $.02... if i can't find it, i'll edit this and ask you for a link to the grow kit.

i do, however, agree with these guys that the PF tek is the way to go on your first time. that's how i started and it was a GREAT learning experience. as long as you talk to the fellows here and follow their advice, you can't mess up too bad.

Here:

?

wow, whoever made that casing is dumb. the sides need to be covered with something that will block the light from coming in through the sides so you don't get side pinning.

a means of humidification would also be very helpful...

Your from South FL and that grow kit is overseas. They won't ship to the states because it's ready to fruit and illegal here. Check out www.sporeworks.com, they make grow kits and have spores also.

Id take the money and build my own. Having the spores is the roughest part of starting up.

assuming that it was shipped .. what other things would be needed for starting it off? or what would be helpful to get it off .. and how many times will it produce flushes .. unlimited?

No offence ment when I say this...but: If your really looking into this hobby, then forget the kits! No need! You can do all this stuff yourself for less money. Plus you'll gain the experaince which your going to need sooner or later anyway if ya want to get serious, or at least be able to have damn near 100% success rates on a consistant basis. This hobby realy isn't hard, nor is it expensive!
Besides...once you start, it's a sure thing that you'll be on here reading up (or asking ?'s) every chance you can get!
It's not rocket science brotha....
It's Shroom science

well if u are going with grow kits go with some people from canada. (No CUSTOMS as little john says YEAHHHH!) But u would save a lot of money doing it all ur self. I was thinking about buying a grow kit too but instead decided if im going to grow for now on i should just do everything myself. I have one vendor i was looking at before i found the shroomery ( CHANGED MY LIFE) but i recomend not doing it ouch expensive. -sporetradingpost

I think the easiest way to get shroomies is :

http://www.mycobag.com/merchant2/merchan...egory_Code=MBSM

and

http://www.thelittleguy.com/order_page2.html

. Buy a bag and a syringe. Knock it up, and I swear you don't even have to incubate. I threw one in the trash to find it white a few weeks later. HEALTHY white. The things will get you shrooms.

It costs WAY more than PF-Tek, and you won't get as many shrooms...but if you want to get the basic idea before you launch into the hobby, AND you have the cash, you can't mess it up.

You could get the Homestead EZgro kit for like 120 bucks. Its sort of a lot, but you will get like 4-6oz dry and you will know how to grow mushrooms forever after seeing it happen. (All it is is 3 pounds pasteurized manure, a rubbermaid bin with holes in the top, and a mycobag). If are half lazy, I recommend this way.

Well, that kit you linked to comes ready to fruit. So all you would have to do is give it light, keep it in a high humidity environment, fan it a few times a day, and it will begin to fruit in about a week. As far as flushes I'd say 1-2 before it will contaminate since this is your first try. And your probably looking at 1-1.5 dry ounces out of the whole thing.

i cant figure y every1 here is knocking grow kits. i recived 1 as a gift sometime ago and it got me interested in growing. after ordering another 1 from weedcity and enjoying that i steped up 2 cakes and now im working on casings. yes people weedcity.com ships 2 the usa. i got 3 good flushes and another 2 after dunking. the other great thing is u can print all ur caps and save them if u decide 2 go pf tek. i did this made my own needles and its working fine. not every1 wants 2 get involved in pressure cookers, bleaching there bathrooms and blah blah blah. these kits r great 4 a dude who wants a few shrooms 2 trip on and does not have the time go throuh all the steps. and i think they r worth the money because what i harvested from the kit as opposed 2 buying on the street i saved some sweet loot.

Nutrition will be less and less after each flush. So after a flush or 4 it will be over.
You could try to inject nutrition after that but I havent got a clue if that will work.

The only thing that will prevent contamination and aid in the growth of your mushrooms is doing research. We have all paid our dues to the research gods and now it is your turn. Give them praise and they will help you.
Please start to read....it is extremely valuable in this hobby and it is even quite useful in life.

I was at my local head-shop the other day...

My jaw hit the floor when I saw a mushroom grow-kit jacked up... This one actually has a mushroom in it! The kit was a standard plastic container, with holes on the top. It included a sterile peat mix, and a rye-berry bag, sterilized and complete with water and a mushroom. The mushroom was seporated from the rye berries by a twist and red tape. You had to crush the dried shroom, then peel the tape, and mix it into the berries.

Neat concept... But the kit was selling for over $180.00 USD now... was only $50.00 last year!

They have since removed the sticker that identified the strain type. Once listed as amazonian, and packaged by some other company. Both the ID and the original supplier name have been removed or replaced. (But, I still know it is amazonian!) I am just not willing to spend $180.00 for a kit that has a 25% chance of not working! (It is almost four years old now!)
