gaining weight
    #6672005 -

Okay so I have been trying to gain weight. I was 150 in highschool, then in college I dropped to a bitchin 135. Now im back up to 156. I am going to the Navy after I graduate and gonna try for special forces. So I need to gain weight and muscle. I got the muscle under control, but gaining weight is such a b b b bbbitch.:D

I eat alot at the school dinning hall. Usually untill I cant eat anymore. Pasta, meat, veggies, everything. :syringe:

I also bought this weigh gainer stuff, but it didnt seem to work that well. Somone told me I should drink a shit load of milk. Would that help?

I would like to gain this weight as fast as possible if anyone knows any tips.

thanks pc

Bourbon. Preferably Jack Daniels.

But seriously, a high calorie, high protein weight gainer should work. Creatine is a good thing to use in combination with weight gainer because it helps your body process protein more efficiently; actually getting it to your muscles as opposed to being crapped doen the turlet. Eating a shit load of white bread and other worthless carbohydrates also helps.

Most gainers suck because they use dextrose or maltodexterin. If you want quality muscle and want to avoid insulin resistance, get your extra kcals from carbs that are low on the glycemic index.

I'm a big proponent of home made gainers using medium chain triglycerides and oats for carbs!! Buy a coffee grinder and some rolled oats, bust 'em up and make protein shakes with milk. You can get a cool `600 kcals and have a meal replacement that costs less than a couple of bucks.

I'm drinking one right now. I drink a few each day and get a few whole meals as well. This way I'm able to get more quality whole meals without going insane, because I eat 8-9 times a day. This includes shakes of course, because only a few of those meals are actually whole meals.

But yeah, I climbed up from just over 115lbs to 185lbs at my highest point and I was pretty darn lean. I know it's a tough mother fucker to gain weight, but slow and steady wins the race. Invest in some protein, keep milk stocked in the fridge, eat oats and the weight will come.

www.bodybulding.com

I used that site when I lifted for a while. On that site are plenty of weight-gain diet regimens as well as weight lifting routines that are intended for those who are looking to pack on some muscle. Good luck!

I gotta recommend http://www.bodybuidling.com also, I've been using it extensively lately for, among other things, what you're trying to achieve.

I'd suggest looking up the following articles:

I can post some more useful articles if you're interested, just grabbed those off a quick search. Also, in addition to the topics posted in those articles, be sure to look up "clean bulking"

darm metabolism eh, it's so hard to keep up with.

one thing i have found is that if i drink milk during the day, with my meals, it is harder to eat more food. the milk kills my appetite. but since milk is important in gaining, drink a bunch at night a bit before you go to bed.

i have found that now when i don't drink milk during the day and with my meals, im able to consume a lot more food and my appetite is much bigger.

okay, first things first.  if you're going to frequent any bb/strength training message board you need to sign up at www.elitefitness.com/forum
There's a lot more knowledgeable people there that will get you on your way.  DO IT!

Then, check out this link

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=998224

I've gained 20 lbs now in 2 months on this program, no joke.

You have to read it all to really get a grasp of the concepts.  And you'll also have to spend some time figuring out your form with squats, deadlifts, military press, row and bench.  But it's SOOO worth it

It's also the simplest routine you can do out there.  None of that complicated BBer type shit.  3 lifts each workout, 3 days a week..so easy.

When it comes to diet I also like to keep it simple.  3-4 big meals a day, lots of veggies, carbs, protein and whole milk!  My average diet looks like this...

meal 1 = 4 eggs, 3 piece of toast, orange juice, apple
meal 2 = weight gainer, multi-vitamin and olive oil (this is my afterworkout meal)

meal 3 = 2 burgers, tons of veggies, whole wheat bread used for bun
meal 4 = spaghetti and garlic bread

and throughout the day I drink about a gallon of whole milk.

so you follow that workout plan, bring the weights up each workout, get 8 hours of sleep or more a night and eat enough calorie dense foods and you'll have the size you want in no time!

but anyways, check out that forum and link I posted.  they'll get you on your way right quick.

How can you struggle to gain weight? Just lie around getting high and eating shitty food all day, which is pretty much what special forces troops do, as far as I'm aware.
