Personally, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what bullshit propaganda they'll parade out to make this one illegal.

That's like two sentences in, I don't even know if I can continue reading, let alone even count this is a knowledgeable source (which it is obviously not). God damned media.

Hahaha, and they used a "hidden camera" to go to headshops to buy it? Why? It's legal, that's the whole point of the article, what do they need hidden cameras for?

This is ridiculous.

"It's being blamed for the death of 17-year-old Brett Chidester in Delaware. The teen killed himself after using salvia. The note he left behind talked about his experiences while taking the drug."

Wow, thanks Brett, you fucking moron.

Why does one dumbshit have to go and ruin it for everyone?

An e-mail I wrote to Alison Grande, the person who wrote the piece:

Hi Alison,

I had a few comments in regards to your article on Salvia Divinorum. In the third sentence you say:

"it's been compared with acid and LSD..."
That's like saying "I like to drink water and di-hydrogen-monoxide." Although the effects of smoked Salvia are more intense and much more short-lived than LSD, the comparison may be sufficient for the layperson.

Later in the article you mention Salvia being blamed for Brett Chidester's death. What you fail to mention is the very great chance that Brett was depressed before his encounter with Salvia and this may have triggered his suicide more-so than his trip. Delaware's move to ban Salvia after Brett's death just shows how irrational and fear-stricken their legislating body is and how little concern they have for the individual rights of responsible adult Americans. Their ban on Salvia will not solve the problem they think they have and instead will alienate even more of their crumbling support base.

Further, your article mentions the DEA's intention to make Salvia a scheduled substance. Banning substances such as this for everybody never works out. What you should be talking about is regulation of the substance so adults who are responsible may use Salvia in the comfort of their own home without fear of being arrested and thrown in jail. At the same time we must keep these substances out of the hands of minors without the use of laws to ban them outright. The freedom of psychedelics use is not something that should be legislated away on a whim because of irresponsible adolescents and their negligent parents.

Thank you for your time and don't hesitate to respond with any comments you may have on the issue.

Nice. Well written letter. Let us hope it does not simply fall on deaf ears.

I wonder if she'll actually respond.
Highly doubt it. Probably will write you off as some crazy drug addict who acts far smarter than they really are when she reads it.
