Marley is good because of his unique style of roots. No other reggae artists come close to achieving what he did. He brought reggae to the world.

There are plenty of other genre defining artists when it comes to reggae, but reggae is a broad plethora of music, just like 'rock music'.

Bob Marley did not pioneer roots, but his style of roots is definately one of the best. A few other artists achieved some degree of fame, like dawn penn or augustus pablo..

I personally prefer dub over roots, artists such as The scientist, mad proffessor, pato banton etc. Banging music

In my opinion, there are two genres of music: good and bad.

Marley is definitely good music :bong:

I don't like Album Marley because you ALWAYS know what to expect, but live Marley is not bad. Not terribly good, but not bad.

So because I don't think every Tool album is great I'm retarded?

I never said they were bad, by the way, but hopefully you can see that not every album comes close to living up to Lateralus.

i love bob. but yeah. its not like hes a new artist or anything. his music has surounded me since befr i could talk.
i like the very steriotypical mary songs. like stir it up an jamming. they never get onld and are so fun to play

to me, and to most people i think, bob marley is sort of like grateful dead. They both have some really good songs, but that's about it. Unless youre die-hard, it's difficult to really enjoy it all. im no die-hard marley fan or dead head.

jimmy cliff has the best voice ever in reggae.
toots & the maytals had the best groove.
bob exposed reggae to the world and made it popular, along with the politial and social statements he wanted to make.
you can't say any of them are "better". they all did their thing.
