Hello everyone. First of all I'd like to say how happy I am about growing mushrooms. It worked better than I ever imagined. They have been drying the last few days in an air tight jar of dessicant. My g/f and I plan on shrooming tonight. The problem I have is the dosing. I don't have a scale handy. Eyeballing the crop, it looks like at least a 1/2 ounce to me. But I've only done shrooms a few times and only bought 1/8ths so I don't trust my judgement. I read on this site, that a level teaspoon of dried shrooms is approx 1 gram. Which I can only say okay to. I would like a level 3 trip going by that criteria. I'm concerned with potency too. The strain is equador, grown on brf/verm cakes. I had always heard that the caps have the most psylocybin in them. The shrooms I have grown seem to have larger stems proportionate to the caps that what I've ate before from dealer shrooms. So if this were true, should I go a little over than what I'm used to handling ? I plan to just throw 7-8 mushrooms into a coffee grinder and measure that way. Also, I noticed some cakes produced caps with different colors. Some were yellowish brown, others more dark red/brown. Will shrooms from different cakes have different potency ? Or will it be pretty equal ?
Lastly, if I take a conservative dose, and want to trip harder, can I take more an hour or so later or will the effects be less noticable. I've noticed with LSD, if I eat more after I'm already tripping - it extends the length but not the intensity of the trip. Also is orange juice good for shroom trips or just an urban legend ? Normally I wouldn't waste my time answering these easily researched questions. Look just below the list of posts and you'll see a box marked "Search". Try it next time.
Buy a scale. For now I believe the teaspoonful = 1 gram is probably close enough for you. Use approx 1 gram per level. Try a 2 or 3 gram trip to start if you're not sure of the potency. Maybe 2 to be safe. Grind them up in a coffe grinder if you have one, mix with OJ and chug.
The cap thing is one of those stupid bits of misinformation that refuses to die.
Color of shrooms makes no difference.
Taking more later in my experience is usually a waste. Doesn't seem to help me anyway. I trip once a week and find that I must wait at least 5 days between trips for maximum effect, so Friday is shroom night.
Also try fan drying first and then the desiccant, sometimes rot will set in if youjust use the desiccant. If they have only been drying for a few days they may not be fully dry which will throw off your weights.

It all depends on the size of your mushrooms and when you picked them... started out with a few caps.. and like 3 stems. You can always intensify the trip, its a little harder to make it less intense when you have already downed more than you should have.

I would say just start eating them and when you think you have eaten enough stop eating thats how I uassly do it. EAT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN LOL
