Disconnecting The Net
    #6531346 -

I'm starting to think about disconnecting service for my internet, at least temporarily. When it comes down to it, the internet is a luxury item, and it is not necessary, unless you rely upon it for one's career.

Who here has thought about this before? Has anyone experimented with disconnecting it for a certain amount of time, like, for one month or two, to see how it would change your life?

Anyone want to try?

I love it too much.  I pay all my bills online, I have my email, I go to school for multimedia and the internet it a major part of my life.  I could not ever go back, nor would I want to.  I'm dependent.

i don't really get this. Unless everyone here is underage we should all remember a time when we didn't have a computer or the internet.

...you mean, unplug myself from the web?
unpossible.
heh
the internet, when used to its potential, is the most resourceful thing you can have.
but hey, if all you use it for is email, then ya, it's prob not a priority.

im always researching stuff though.

I take a couple courses online so that wouldn't be possible for me.

i purposely disconnected the internet for over a year... the impact was very positive. I stopped being a "homebody", hung out with friends more often, was a little more active, etc...

I only have internet now b/c i moved in with a roomie who already has it and part of what i pay every month is internet bill, so i might as well use it

I've disconnected my service twice before...for about a month each time. Both were nervewracking at first (like I was trying to break a drug addiction or something), but it ended up being pretty positive in the end. However...now I need access to online info far too much, so I doubt I will leave it behind any time soon.

It is refreshing, though.

I'm thinking about doing it for awhile. I like this community but one person in OTD is saying weird things about me sexually. I think I could use the time off the net in general for better things.

gnubobo? You need not worry about him, he does that type of shit to everyone, and he stays in OTD. So just put him on ignore and post here in the Pub. You're definately more suited for the Pub anyway.

Hi how's it going, wanna kick Heroin basically painlessly on your own, in your own house, without any government "help" ,or the "help" of a crazy condescending, judgmental medical doctor? Read this:
