VOTE VOTE VOTE
GET OUT AND VOTE, PLEASE.
FUCK VERIZON, REPUBLICANS, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO IS IN FAVOR OF THIS BILL, I WANT MY INTERNET TO STAY LIKE IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND SHOULD BE: OPEN AND FREE. (yes we have to pay for it, but not any extra money or loading time to view "third party" sites (LIKE THIS ONE).

lol yeah, i'm not sure how we can help either. I'd say vote, but i don't even know if this is something citizens can vote on.
Quite honestly i'm pretty dumb with governemnt stuff like this, passing bills and whatnot. I suppose we could write letters to our congressmen, but i doubt that works too well.

Why do people outside of America think the American government represents the average American. They don't. Most of them are corrupt mother fuckers.
We can't really fight. They would cut us to peices or imprison us.

I don't see this happening. If only one broadband provider remains who streams the internet at normal speed everyone will chose that provider instead of the providers who limit internet speeds to certain sites. I also don't see this giving any problems outside of America, because I don't see my country implementing such a stupid system.

Other internet legislation seems to be going the right way though. Check it out:
Quote:
Judge: Web-surfing worker can't be fired
APR. 24 9:12 A.M. ET Saying surfing the web is equivalent to reading a newspaper or talking on the phone, an administrative law judge has suggested that only a reprimand is appropriate as punishment for a city worker accused of failing to heed warnings to stay off the Internet.
Source + complete arcticle
edit: And other legislation will make it worse again:
New, tougher copyright legislation in the works
Quote:
Some highlights from the proposed legislation (which has the backing of the Bush administration) include a toughening of the DMCA which would make attempting to infringe on copyright illegal. In addition, no one would be allowed to "make, import, export, obtain control of, or possess" hardware or software that could be used to circumvent copy-protection mechanisms. That's an expansion on the DMCA's current language, which prohibits the distribution of tools such as DeCSS that can be used to bypass copy-protection schemes.
That's not all. Criminal enforcement of copyright violations will be extended to cover works not registered with the US Copyright Office at the time of the violation. Also, asset forfeiture will be used as a weapon against those infringing on copyright. That PC you use to rip a copy of The Empire Strikes Back to your hard drive could be confiscated and either destroyed or sold at government auction. Other criminal penalties for infringement would be toughened, including up to 10 years in prison for posting copyrighted material online if its value exceeds US$1,000.
That's just a short list?there is reportedly more objectionable stuff in 24-page draft of the bill. (We called Rep. Sensenbrenner's office in an attempt to obtain a copy of the draft legislation, but have not yet received one.) Update: a draft of the bill (PDF) is now available.

I don't see how the government can sensor the web. Copies of foreign third party browsers and foreign ISP's will leak into the US and be used, like satellite, you will just have to pay a little bit more for complete net freedom, and that's all the government wants, you to spend more money.
