Question on fruiting enviorment

Would moist paper towels be a suitable enviorment for fruiting my cakes? Or is there a better tek? The PF tek that i am following says to use perlite or expaned clay peltes. Since i dont have access to either of them. Would the paper towels be suitable? If not can anyone point me in a better direction? Thanks for all the help =)

Get a cool mist humidifier and a timer. Run a hose from humidifier into your terrarium. takes care of humidity and fresh air.

Paper towels would not be suitable. They would be a contamination magnet and probably would not provide enough humidity.

Alright sorry if im getting annoying with all the questions. I will probably be using some sort of tupperware box to fruit my cakes in. Now if i purchance a cool mist humidifier. Do i have to layer the bottom of my box with anything? Or can i just put the cakes down on there and it will be fine?

I would reccomend buying those KERR plastic canning jars, filling them w/ Vermiculite (which you can buy online if you can't find it) and soaking the Verm in H2O, and then placing all your cakes on the lids. This will allow the cakes to get a better uptake of water, and you'll get better fruits.

were would i find KERR's at? Any online shop that you can direct me to would be very usefully and greatly appericated. I have order'ed my Verm as of last night and my BRF. SO what i would do is place my soaked verm in the lid of the jar, and then place my cakes on top of the jar with the verm in it? Correct me if i am wrong. I am extreamly new at this,m and very open to comments, and willing to learn =)

You can get the plastic lids at Wally World and I think MycoSupply sells them online. Yeah soak the verm and put in a strainer or something so theres no excess then, fill the Verm to the top of each lid and put them in the terrainium. When you're cakes are fully colonized, place them right on the Verm. Be sure to sterilize everything.

In my experience moist paper towels on bottom of the fruiting container and cakes placed directly on them work as well as a perlite layer. I?ve used them several times in the past with good results.

About the healthmist humidifier. They normally go for about 30 bucks at wal mart, but I recently picked one up for 7 bucks at the local St Vincents DePaul store. They also show up at Goodwill and Salvation Army. If you go to www.buycheapsoftware.com you can purchase Coreldraw 9 Graphics Suite for 49 bucks it is a great deal and includes Corel Photopaint 9 which will unload your digital camera.
